What was Joey’s “worst-case scenario”?
Joey later explained that Kelsey left him a note reading, “We need to talk.” He said he immediately worried she was leaving or that something had gone wrong. In a March 18, 2024 interview with TheWrap, he recalled: “I went dark very quickly — I thought that she was leaving, I thought something went wrong.”
He also described the reaction as an assumption many people might make on receiving that message: “I think any guy that ever gets a text or anything from a girl that says, ‘We need to talk,’ you assume the worst.” The interview identifies the note as the source of his fear. Although the episode recap’s search extract also associates Joey with the phrase “worst case scenario,” its exact context is not independently established, so the phrase should not be taken as confirmation that he was referring to Rachel’s hospital visit.

Why did Joey send Rachel Nance home?
Joey said he sent Rachel home because he was not ready to tell her he was falling in love with her while she was expressing strong feelings for him. His explanation centers on that mismatch in where they stood, rather than on the reported hospital visit.
