The All-Devouring Whale: Homecoming is a Chinese animated adaptation of a comic about a spiritual-pet master betrayed by his own creature, reborn in another body, and drawn into a fight to save his sect. Its premise may appeal to viewers who enjoy creature-centered fantasy, but the available figures do not establish that it is “breaking the internet” or rivaling Pokémon.
What is The All-Devouring Whale: Homecoming about?
The series’ Chinese title is 鲲吞天下之掌门归来. Bilibili lists it as an anime and comic adaptation, with Chinese-style and encouraging tags. Its story centers on Fan Lingxiao, a spiritual-pet master betrayed during a sect-promotion competition and devoured by his own pet, Kun.
Fan awakens in the body of Liu Fengmang, who is imprisoned in the White Mansion. His former sect, Lingxiao Pavilion, is in danger. He sets out to discover why Kun turned against him and to restore the sect, accompanied by his spiritual pets and Gu Ling, Cheng Xi, and Yue Tong. The official episode description uses action, comedy, and passionate-story language to promote the show; that is promotional positioning, not an independent review.
Is it like Pokémon?
That comparison is a matter of taste, not a demonstrated equivalence. Both descriptions can bring creature-focused fantasy to mind, but the official synopsis here is specifically about spiritual pets, betrayal, reincarnation, and saving a sect. The evidence available does not establish that the series rivals Pokémon in audience size, popularity, or cultural reach.

Is the series really “breaking the internet”?
There is evidence of early attention, but not enough to support an internet-wide claim. ORICON NEWS reported on June 8, 2025, that the series reached more than 10 million views within two weeks of its May 2025 China release. The report, as available, does not define the counting method.
Bilibili’s English series page displayed 3.7 million views when accessed on October 8, 2026. Separately, search-result metadata for the official Made By Bilibili first-episode upload on YouTube showed 1,574,313 views at retrieval; that upload was published May 3, 2025. These are distinct counts with different scopes and observation points, so they should not be combined or treated as a like-for-like trend. None establishes a comparison with Pokémon.

Yes. Bilibili identifies the animation as a comic adaptation. JD.com’s catalog lists a printed Chinese-language collection titled 鲲吞天下漫画全套1–4册—volumes 1–4 of the comic, with bonuses noted in the product title. The catalog listing supports the existence of that Chinese-language collection, not an English edition or current stock at another retailer: JD.com catalog listing.
