U.S. streaming guide, checked for April 2026. The list below combines April catalog additions with established family titles available through major streaming services. Catalogs change by territory, subscription tier and date, so confirm the film’s listing before pressing play. “Family comedy” is used broadly here: animation, comic fantasy, family adventure and a few older-teen picks all qualify.
These are not all-ages guarantees. Several films include peril, grief, frightening creatures, family separation, potty humor or adult jokes. The age notes are there to help you choose quickly.

-
Shrek 2 (2004)
Where to look: Hulu, arriving April 1. Best for: roughly 6+. The sequel improves on an already sharp premise by sending Shrek and Fiona to meet her parents. Its fairy-tale satire, celebrity-voiced characters and surprisingly sincere marriage story give adults as much to enjoy as children.
-
The Croods (2013)
Where to look: Hulu, arriving April 1. Best for: roughly 6+. A prehistoric family treats every new idea as a threat until a nervous inventor forces them outside their cave. The physical comedy is constant, but the film’s real engine is the clash between an anxious parent and an adventurous daughter.

The Guide to the Perfect Family (2021)
Where to look: Netflix, including the Standard with Ads plan when listed. Best for: older teens and adults. -
Finding Dory (2016)
Where to look: Disney+. Best for: roughly 7+. Lilo & Stitch (2002)
Where to look: Disney+. Best for: roughly 7+. A destructive alien becomes part of a small Hawaiian family that is already dealing with loss and instability. Stitch supplies the chaos, but the film’s emotional core is its definition of “ohana” and its portrait of two sisters trying to stay together.

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (2020)
Where to look: Disney+ catalog availability should be confirmed. Best for: roughly 5+. Shaun helps a stranded alien evade capture in a nearly dialogue-free comedy built from expressions, sound effects and elaborate visual mishaps. It is a strong choice when adults want something gentle and younger children need a clear physical-comedy hook.
-
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Where to look: Disney+. Best for: roughly 5+. Woody’s rescue mission for Forky turns into a road adventure with a carnival, a vintage toy and Bo Peep’s very different approach to independence. The film is playful and visually inventive, though its goodbye themes may make the ending feel more poignant than comic.
-
Aladdin (1992)
Where to look: Disney+. Best for: roughly 6+. Robin Williams’ Genie remains the film’s comic wildfire, bouncing between impressions and song styles as Aladdin attempts to win Jasmine’s trust. Shark Tale (2004)
Where to look: Hulu from April 1. Best for: roughly 7+. A small fish accidentally becomes famous after claiming credit for a shark’s death. -
Monster House (2006)
Where to look: Hulu from April 1. Best for: older children, around 10+. Three kids investigate a house that appears to be alive before Halloween. Grow (2025)
Where to look: check the current U.S. streaming listing before watching. Best for: roughly 6+. Listed as a PG, 147-minute family comedy, Grow is a longer commitment than most entries here and includes some potty humor. It suits families looking for a newer, extended comic adventure rather than a quick animated feature.
-
Napoleon Dynamite (2004)
Where to look: Hulu from April 1. Best for: teens and adults. Napoleon’s deadpan school life, eccentric relatives and low-stakes campaign for class president make this a cult comedy rather than a children’s movie. Older teens may appreciate its awkward, quotable style; younger children are unlikely to connect with it.
-
50 First Dates (2004)
Where to look: Hulu from April 1. Best for: teens and adults. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore play a couple dealing with short-term memory loss in a romantic comedy that uses Hawaii and repeated first meetings for its comic structure. It contains adult relationship humor and is not an all-ages family pick.

Streaming caveat for April 2026
The Hulu and Netflix dates above describe April catalog additions, not permanent rights. Disney+ selections in this guide should be checked against the current U.S. catalog immediately before publication or viewing, as availability can vary. A title appearing in a service search may also require an ad-supported tier, an add-on, a rental or a purchase rather than being included with the base subscription.
FAQ
What is the best family comedy on this list?
Shrek 2 is the strongest all-around choice for mixed-age viewers: it has broad physical comedy for children, fairy-tale satire for adults and a complete story that does not require watching the first film first.
Which movies here are suitable for young children?
Start with Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, Shaun the Sheep Movie or Harold and the Purple Crayon. Check each child’s sensitivity first, since even G- and PG-rated films can include frightening scenes or emotional themes.
Which family comedies should older children avoid if they dislike scares?
Monster House is the clearest skip because it is intentionally spooky. Finding Dory, Inside Out, Lilo & Stitch and Moana also contain peril, sadness or frightening sequences, although they are mainstream family films.
Are all 29 movies included with a streaming subscription?
No. Services can change catalogs, use different subscription tiers and offer some titles only through rentals, purchases or add-on channels. The service and date notes are a starting point; confirm the U.S. listing and playback terms before watching.
The Bottom Line
For the safest mixed-age bet, choose Shrek 2, Toy Story or Monsters, Inc. Families with older children can move to Monster House or Inside Out, while teen-and-adult groups will get more from Napoleon Dynamite, 50 First Dates or The Guide to the Perfect Family. Check the service listing on the day you watch: April streaming rights are temporary and U.S.-specific.
