Choose by what you want to stream. Switchboard Live distributes a live encoder feed to multiple destinations; Gyre runs prerecorded videos continuously from cloud infrastructure. For an always-on YouTube stream made from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is another option to consider first: it loops from the cloud, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
Switchboard Live and Gyre solve different streaming problems
“Always-on” can mean either keeping a live production feed distributed around the clock or repeatedly broadcasting prerecorded material. These services are not interchangeable: identify your source workflow before comparing plan limits.
| Service | Source workflow | Where the continuous stream runs | Destinations and relevant limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Switchboard Live | A live encoder sends a feed to Switchboard, which distributes it to destinations. | Requires a live encoder and a steady internet connection for the described workflow. | Its pricing page describes unlimited multistreaming destinations, with plan-dependent input and team-member allowances. The FAQ specifies a maximum of 30 destinations in one workflow. The pricing page lists 24/7 Streams under Enterprise. |
| Gyre | Prerecorded videos are looped or scheduled for continuous streaming. | Gyre says files are stored in Gyre Storage and streams are sent from its servers, so your computer can be off. | Simultaneous streams, storage, and resolution depend on the plan. |

Which one should you choose?
Choose Switchboard Live for an encoder feed and multistream distribution
Switchboard is the closer fit when you already produce a live feed in an encoder and want to send it to multiple destinations. Its FAQ names OBS, Switcher Studio, Ecamm Live, vMix, and LiveU as examples of encoders or systems. These are examples, not a requirement to buy dedicated hardware.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The pricing page describes monthly or annual, seat-based licensing and plan-dependent input and team-member allowances. It places 24/7 Streams on Enterprise; its public pricing information does not state an exact price for that plan. Confirm that the plan and input allowance fit your intended workflow before subscribing.

Gyre’s product update stated in September 2026 that paid plans then ranged from $49 to $169 per month. That is a dated vendor statement, not a guarantee of current pricing. Check the live pricing page for current amounts, billing terms, and included limits before you decide.

Check plan limits, destinations, and ingest before committing
Simultaneous streams and inputs
For Gyre, compare the number of concurrent streams you need against the selected tier’s allowance, then check its storage and resolution limits. For Switchboard, check the plan’s input and team-member allowances; the pricing page identifies 24/7 Streams with Enterprise. Neither service’s limits should be assumed to carry across plans.
Switchboard’s protocol documentation conflicts
Switchboard’s FAQ says ingest is RTMP-only, while a newer workflow support article lists RTMP, RTMPS, and SRT. Because these official materials differ, confirm the supported protocol available to your account with Switchboard before configuring an encoder. Do not rely on the FAQ alone or assume the newer list applies to every plan or account.

Storage and archives
Gyre’s displayed storage allowance varies by tier; check the current plan for the amount available to your files. Switchboard’s FAQ says video is not stored or archived in the setup it describes. If you need a recording or archive, plan for a separate recording workflow rather than assuming multistream distribution provides one.

Switchboard describes monthly or annual seat-based licensing, but the public pricing details reviewed do not provide a specific Enterprise price for 24/7 Streams. Gyre’s September 2026 update gave a vendor-reported paid-plan range of $49–$169 per month, while its product page displays a starting price of $49 per month. Both services’ plan details and prices can change, so verify the amount, billing interval, and limits directly before purchase.

YouTube eligibility and content rules apply to both
Using a cloud service or a multistream distributor does not bypass YouTube’s channel requirements. YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Live content must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Check YouTube’s live-streaming help for current requirements.
For a continuous prerecorded stream, ensure you have the rights to the video, audio, and any other included material. A service can automate delivery, but it does not grant rights or determine whether content complies with YouTube policies.
What the marketing claims do—and do not—establish
Gyre’s homepage claims that views grow 60–80% and viewers stay 2–3× longer than on regular uploads. The page does not identify an independent study, publisher, or year for those figures, so treat them as vendor marketing claims rather than established results. Customer-story metrics presented by the vendor should likewise be understood as vendor-reported.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded YouTube stream, StreamNeo’s setup is three steps:
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home. Your upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo streams to YouTube and plays uploaded videos; it is not a camera-based live-production service. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
