What time was the Survivor Season 49 premiere?
The premiere began at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time and ended at 10 p.m. The schedule was also advertised as 8/7c, meaning 8 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. Central. The official CBS schedule announcement lists the premiere as an 8:00–10:00 p.m. ET/PT broadcast on September 24.
On the West Coast, the local CBS broadcast was scheduled for 8 p.m. Pacific. If you were watching through an affiliate, cable provider, antenna, or live-TV streaming service, the provider’s local listing was the best way to confirm the exact feed in your area.
Was the premiere two hours?
Yes. Season 49 opened with a two-hour premiere. The regular episodes that followed used the show’s usual 90-minute Wednesday format, generally occupying the 8:00–9:30 p.m. ET/PT slot.
Regular weekly episodes began on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The official Paramount+ Season 49 guide also distinguishes the two-hour opening episode from the subsequent 90-minute episodes.
What channel carried Season 49?
In the United States, Survivor Season 49 aired on the CBS Television Network. That usually meant watching through one of these routes:
- Your local CBS channel through cable or satellite
- An antenna, if your home could receive the local CBS broadcast signal
- A live-TV streaming service that carried your local CBS affiliate
- Paramount+ Premium’s live local CBS feed, where available
CBS availability is local rather than identical nationwide. A service may carry CBS in one ZIP code but not another, so check your address before subscribing.
How to watch CBS live without cable
1. Use an antenna
An over-the-air antenna was potentially the lowest-cost way to watch the broadcast live, provided a receivable CBS station served your location. It does not require a monthly streaming subscription, but reception depends on distance, terrain, building materials, antenna placement, and the local station’s signal.
2. Use Paramount+ Premium
Paramount+ Premium—not the lower tier—was the Paramount+ option for live CBS viewing. The live stream was accessed through the service’s Live TV section by selecting the viewer’s local CBS station. It was not necessarily enough to open the normal on-demand Survivor Season 49 page and press play.

The current public U.S. Paramount+ signup page lists plans starting at $8.99 per month and Premium at $13.99 per month at the time of this update. Prices and promotions can change. Older Season 49 coverage may quote $7.99 for Essential and $12.99 for Premium; those were launch-era 2025 prices, not figures to assume are current.
3. Check a live-TV streaming service
Several major live-TV services may carry the CBS affiliate serving your address:
- YouTube TV provides a local-channel lookup by ZIP code.
- Hulu + Live TV carries local CBS affiliates in some markets, with availability varying by location.
- Fubo offers a local-station lookup.
- DIRECTV STREAM also bases local-channel availability on the viewer’s area.
These services generally cost more than a standalone entertainment subscription because they are full live-TV bundles. Their advantage is that they can replace cable and include a broader channel lineup, cloud DVR features, or sports coverage depending on the plan.
What about Sling TV?
Sling TV should not be treated as a guaranteed nationwide CBS solution. Its local-channel access depends on geography, and CBS is not generally available as a standard Sling stream in every market. Sling’s local-channel guidance explains the limitations. An antenna connected through AirTV may provide local CBS where reception permits, but that remains dependent on the broadcast signal.
How to watch Season 49 if you missed the broadcast
Free or lower-cost next-day viewing
The CBS app advertises free next-day access to new episodes, and CBS says that most primetime episodes become available the day after broadcast. To check:
- Open the CBS Season 49 page or the CBS app.
- Search for Survivor.
- Choose Season 49.
- Select the episode you want to watch after it becomes available.
Free or ad-supported access may include advertising, and episode windows, device support, sign-in requirements, and availability can vary. The CBS app’s listing describes its next-day programming, while CBS provides additional information about when new episodes are added.
This was not the same as a guaranteed free live stream of the CBS broadcast. Same-night live viewing generally required an antenna, a TV provider login, a live-TV service, or Paramount+ Premium.

Season 49 time-zone guide
| Location or listing style | Premiere time | Length |
|---|---|---|
| Eastern | 8:00–10:00 p.m. | 2 hours |
| Central | 7:00–9:00 p.m. | 2 hours |

The official schedule used 8:00–10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Streaming platforms do not necessarily publish one universal release time for every device or plan, so the live Paramount+ option should be treated as a CBS-feed viewing method rather than an on-demand release-time promise.
Spoiler-free preview of the premiere
The episode, titled “Act One of a Horror Film”, introduced 18 new castaways competing for the $1 million prize. The season was filmed in Fiji, with the contestants divided into three tribes and Jeff Probst returning as host.
The opening story begins with the marooning challenge and the immediate fight for essential camp supplies. That setup gives new viewers the basic premise without revealing eliminations, alliances, advantages, or the eventual winner. The official episode description and press materials provide the same spoiler-free starting details.

| Your situation | Most practical option | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| You want to watch live and can receive CBS | Antenna | No recurring streaming fee, but reception is location-dependent. |
| You want to watch live without cable | Paramount+ Premium or a live-TV service with local CBS | Check local CBS availability before paying. |
| You only need episodes after they air | CBS app or CBS.com | Free next-day access was advertised, but ads and availability may apply. |
| You already have cable or satellite | Your local CBS channel or provider app | You may not need another subscription; streaming access may require a provider login. |
| You want the entire completed season | Paramount+ or the CBS Season 49 archive | Catalog access and plan requirements can change. |
In practical terms, an antenna was the least expensive live route if it worked at your address. For delayed viewing, the CBS app or CBS.com was the lowest-cost option where the advertised free next-day access applied. There was no blanket promise of a free, legitimate, same-night live stream.
Some 2025 articles advertised free trials or temporary discounts from Paramount+, Fubo, or DIRECTV STREAM. Those promotions were time-limited and should not be assumed to remain available. Check the provider’s current signup page instead of relying on an old promotion.

Common viewing problems
Paramount+ Premium is active, but you cannot find the live episode
Go to Live TV and look for the local CBS station. The on-demand Season 49 row and the live CBS feed are separate destinations. If no local station appears, your location may not be eligible or the subscription may have been purchased through a third-party platform with different account handling.
Your live-TV service does not show CBS
Run the provider’s ZIP-code or address lookup. YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, and DIRECTV STREAM all warn that local channel lineups vary by market. If the affiliate is unavailable, check an antenna or another provider rather than assuming the network is carried nationwide.
You found an old article with a cheaper Paramount+ price
Use the current Paramount+ U.S. signup page for pricing. The $7.99 Essential and $12.99 Premium figures often cited in Season 49 premiere coverage were contemporary 2025 prices.
You want to watch immediately after the live broadcast
Do not assume the episode will appear at the exact moment the CBS broadcast ends. The CBS app’s stated next-day policy and Paramount+ plan rules govern on-demand availability, while the live option uses the local CBS feed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Paramount+ stream CBS live?
Yes, in the U.S. Paramount+ Premium was the plan for live CBS viewing, where the viewer’s local CBS station was available. Open Live TV and select the local CBS feed; do not rely only on the on-demand Survivor page. The lower Essential tier was described during Season 49’s original run as a next-day on-demand option, not the live-CBS tier.
Can I watch Survivor Season 49 for free?
The CBS app and CBS.com advertised free next-day access to new episodes where available, usually with advertising. That is different from a free same-night live stream, which generally required an antenna, TV-provider login, live-TV service, or Paramount+ Premium.
What was the regular Survivor Season 49 schedule?
The premiere aired Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT. Regular episodes began Wednesday, October 1, in the 8–9:30 p.m. ET/PT slot, with the 13-episode season concluding December 17, 2025.
Where can I find all of Season 49 now?
Start with the official CBS Season 49 archive. Paramount+ also promotes the Survivor library, including Season 49, but catalog access and plan requirements can change.

Bottom line: Survivor Season 49’s two-hour premiere aired on CBS on September 24, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. For the completed season, check CBS’s official 13-episode archive first; for live CBS viewing during the original run, the legitimate streaming choices were Paramount+ Premium or a service carrying the viewer’s local CBS affiliate.
