1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAlan Hamel says he is developing an AI representation of his late wife, Suzanne Somers—but the public evidence supports a more limited description than “an AI clone.” In an October 21, 2025, PEOPLE exclusive, Hamel described a planned “Suzanne AI Twin” trained, according to his account, on Somers’ 27 books and hundreds of interviews. A related physical robot demonstration took place in March 2025, but Realbotix described that demonstration as a robot embodying Somers’ Three’s Company character, Chrissy Snow.
That is not proof that Suzanne Somers’ consciousness, memories or identity were recreated. Nor does the available evidence establish that a finished, publicly accessible chatbot had launched. When the public SuzanneSomers.com homepage was checked on August 10, 2026, it appeared primarily to be an e-commerce and tribute site without a visible AI-twin interface.
The short version: what is real, and what is still planned?
- Announced: Alan Hamel told PEOPLE that he was developing a “Suzanne AI Twin.”
- Reported training material: Somers’ 27 books and hundreds of interviews, according to Hamel.
- Demonstrated: A Realbotix humanoid robot with Hollo.AI conversational software was shown in March 2025.
- Important distinction: Realbotix’s own release said the robot assumed the personality of Chrissy Snow, Somers’ character from Three’s Company.
- Planned public home: Hamel said the broader project would eventually be placed on SuzanneSomers.com.
- Current availability: No public AI interface was visible on the site checked on August 10, 2026. That does not rule out a private test, unpublished version or later change.
The most accurate description is therefore: an announced AI-and-robotics project featuring a conversational digital representation of Suzanne Somers, with a related prototype demonstration—not a literal return of Somers and not a verified public chatbot launch.
Who was Suzanne Somers?
Suzanne Somers was best known for playing Chrissy Snow on Three’s Company and Carol Foster Lambert on Step by Step. She later became an author, entrepreneur and prominent wellness personality. Hamel said she had written 27 books, many of them focused on health, wellness and lifestyle subjects.

Somers died at her Palm Springs home on October 15, 2023, at age 76, after a long battle with breast cancer. She would have turned 77 the following day, according to The Associated Press.
What did Alan Hamel announce?
In the PEOPLE interview published on October 21, 2025—almost two years after Somers’ death—Hamel announced the “Suzanne AI Twin.” He described it as a way to preserve Somers’ legacy and allow fans and readers to continue asking questions related to her career, books and wellness work.
Hamel said the system was being built from Somers’ published material and recorded interviews. He said the eventual goal was for visitors to SuzanneSomers.com to ask questions, interact with the AI and “hang out” with it continuously once he was satisfied with the result.
Those statements describe a project in development. The reporting did not provide a launch date, pricing, access requirements, moderation rules or technical documentation. No public documentation identified the underlying large language model, retrieval system, fine-tuning method, precise dataset boundaries or independent evaluation process.

The public demonstration that preceded the PEOPLE announcement took place in March 2025 at the 37th Roth Capital Partners Conference in Dana Point, California. It involved two technology companies:
- Realbotix: The company supplied the humanoid robot and related robotics, facial-expression and lip-sync technology.
- Hollo.AI: The company supplied conversational AI and digital-twin technology.
In its March 20, 2025 announcement, Realbotix said the robot assumed the personality of Chrissy Snow, the character Somers played on Three’s Company. That wording matters. A fictional character associated with Somers is not necessarily the same thing as a complete digital representation of Somers’ private personality, personal history or beliefs.
Footage-based coverage by Us Weekly reported that the physical replica used Somers-associated appearance, voice and speech patterns. During the exchange, it reportedly responded to Hamel, recognized his name and relationship to Somers, and produced an anecdote about the couple filming a cooking segment involving a blender.
Us Weekly also reported a practical limitation: the robot needed a strong Wi-Fi connection for some answers. That suggests at least part of the experience depended on network connectivity rather than being generated entirely inside the robot. It also means the demonstration should not be treated as evidence that the hardware operates independently of cloud services.

No. It was an AI-generated simulation or representation.
A system like this can combine archived text, audio, video, photographs and information supplied by people involved in the project. It can then generate a new answer that resembles the source material. That may make the result sound familiar, but resemblance is not personal continuity.
| What the system may reproduce | What that does not prove |
|---|---|
| Somers’ appearance | That Somers’ consciousness was transferred |
| Her voice and speech patterns | That the system has her subjective identity |
| Information from books and interviews | That it possesses authentic personal memories |
| A familiar tone or style | That every new statement is something Somers actually said or would have said |
The terms AI clone, digital twin, AI avatar and conversational replica are often used loosely. “AI clone” is understandable headline shorthand, but “AI-generated representation” or “digital replica” is more technically and philosophically accurate. The system generates responses; it does not bring back the person.

How convincing was it?
Hamel told PEOPLE that when the AI and the real Somers were placed side by side, he could not tell which was real. That is an important description of Hamel’s emotional and personal reaction—but it is not an independent technical test.

There is no evidence in the supplied reporting of a blind comparison, biometric assessment, speech-quality benchmark, factuality audit or user study. Hamel had spent roughly 55 years with Somers, making his reaction understandable and potentially meaningful, but also making it unsuitable as an objective measure of whether an AI is “indistinguishable.”
A staged demonstration can show that a system produces plausible replies under selected conditions. It does not show how it would behave after thousands of unscripted questions, when asked about disputed events, private matters, politics, medicine or subjects absent from its source material.
Why did Hamel say he created it?
Hamel said he and Somers had discussed the idea since the 1980s, after conversations with computer scientist and futurist Ray Kurzweil. According to Hamel, the project was primarily Somers’ idea and reflected her wish to keep serving fans and readers interested in health and wellness.
Hamel also said that:
- He initially found speaking with the AI strange but adjusted after two or three minutes.
- His family supported the project.
- He wanted the representation to preserve Somers’ legacy for future generations.
- He once proposed that an AI version of Somers accept a Kennedy Center honor, but the idea was rejected because the center honors living people.
These are statements attributed to Hamel. The public reporting does not include a contemporaneous statement from Somers agreeing to this specific project, nor does it publish an authorization document setting out how her likeness, voice, books, interviews or private memories could be used after her death.
Did Suzanne Somers consent?
The public record supports a careful answer: Hamel says Somers wanted the project and had discussed it with him, but the underlying consent documents have not been made public.
That is not the same as accusing anyone of proceeding without permission. It is a distinction between a spouse’s account of a deceased person’s wishes and documentary evidence describing the precise scope of those wishes.
For a posthumous AI representation, consent could involve several separate decisions:
- Whether her books and interviews could be used as source material.
- Whether her voice, face, name and likeness could be digitally reproduced.
- Whether the system could speak in the first person as Somers.
- Whether it could discuss private memories or family matters.
- Whether it could be sold, placed alongside products or used for advertising.
- Whether it could answer health-related questions in her persona.
- Who could correct, restrict or shut down the system.
- What would happen if family members later disagreed.
Until those details are disclosed, “Somers approved the clone” is too broad. The defensible wording is that Hamel says Somers approved or originated the idea.
Could it answer health questions safely?
This is the most consequential issue because Somers’ public identity was closely connected to wellness and health content.
Hamel told PEOPLE that the planned AI would respond to health questions by directing users toward material associated with doctors Somers had interviewed, rather than simply generating “Suzanne’s version” of a medical answer. He also said health content in Somers’ books had been reviewed by Life Extension.

That proposed approach sounds closer to a source-based information system than to a chatbot improvising medical advice, but the available evidence does not show how it would work in practice. No public safety protocol, medical escalation process, clinician-review system, emergency warning system or independent audit was identified.
There are several reasons a source-based response would still require caution:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Older interviews may not reflect current medical guidance.
- A doctor’s statement in an interview is not automatically advice for a particular user.
- The AI could misquote, combine or misinterpret source material.
- It may not reliably distinguish general education from individualized medical advice.
- Users may give more weight to a familiar voice than to an ordinary health-information website.
- Health recommendations can change as evidence and clinical standards change.
The current SuzanneSomers.com website includes an FDA disclaimer stating that its products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. That disclaimer is relevant to the site’s products, but it does not by itself explain how a future conversational AI would be governed or whether its answers would be clinically reviewed.
The safest description is: Hamel said the planned system would direct health questions to material from doctors Somers interviewed. No independent evidence establishes that it would provide current, clinically reviewed medical guidance. Anyone with symptoms or a medical decision should consult a licensed healthcare professional rather than an AI persona.
Can fans talk to the AI now?
A public launch could not be verified from the information reviewed. As of August 10, 2026, the visible SuzanneSomers.com homepage was primarily an online store and tribute site, and did not visibly expose a “Suzanne AI Twin” chat interface.
That finding should not be overstated. It does not prove that development ended, that access was never offered privately, or that a link could not appear later. It does mean readers should distinguish between:
- Demonstrated: a physical prototype interacted publicly in March 2025.
- Announced: a broader “Suzanne AI Twin” project was reported by PEOPLE in October 2025.
- Planned: Hamel said it would eventually be hosted on SuzanneSomers.com.
- Verified as public: no visible public interface was confirmed on the site checked on August 10, 2026.
No launch date, subscription price, registration process, geographic availability, conversation limits or terms of service were disclosed in the supplied sources.
What does Hollo.AI’s technology suggest?
Hollo.AI’s current general platform description says its AI twins can use a person’s voice, knowledge, image and style, and can support chat, calling and custom knowledge sets. That helps explain the type of technology involved, but it does not independently document the exact software configuration, safeguards or dataset used for Somers’ project.
Likewise, Realbotix’s involvement establishes the robotics collaboration and the physical demonstration. It does not independently verify every claim about the future web-based twin. The robot and the planned website experience may be related, but they should not automatically be treated as one finished product.
Physical robot versus web-based AI twin
| Physical robot | Web-based twin | |
|---|---|---|
| Potential strengths | Face, voice, expressions, lip synchronization and a vivid sense of presence | Easier access, lower hardware requirements, searchable answers and simpler content updates |
| Potential limitations | Cost, maintenance, network dependence and a stronger uncanny-valley effect | Less visible training and retrieval behavior, easier data collection and a greater risk that text will be mistaken for authentic speech |
| Main emotional risk | The physical presence may feel like a person is in the room | Constant availability may encourage users to treat generated replies as an ongoing relationship |
The public demonstration shows the appeal of hardware: a face, voice and body can make an interaction unusually vivid. A web version would be easier for fans to access and update, but it could also scale the experience to far more users and create additional questions about privacy, commercial prompts and moderation.

A carefully curated archive could retrieve passages from Somers’ books and interviews, cite the source and clearly distinguish quotation from interpretation. An open-ended persona could compose original answers in her voice, which may feel more natural but carries a greater risk of invented memories, unsupported opinions and false certainty.
Readers evaluating any future launch should ask whether an answer is:
- A direct quotation from Somers.
- A summary of a cited passage.
- A response generated from a controlled knowledge base.
- An unsupported new statement written in her persona.
Those categories are not interchangeable. A response that sounds like Somers may be stylistically faithful while still being historically or medically wrong.

California’s postmortem right-of-publicity law generally protects the commercial use of a deceased personality’s name, voice, signature, photograph or likeness for 70 years after death. The statute also addresses successor interests, including surviving spouses and children, and contains exceptions involving news and public affairs. Read the text of California Civil Code section 3344.1 for the exact statutory language.
Whether a particular AI project is authorized, commercial, expressive or covered by an exception depends on the facts. This article cannot determine whether the Somers project complies with California law or any other jurisdiction’s law.
The U.S. Copyright Office has separately concluded that existing legal protections leave gaps around unauthorized digital replicas and recommended a federal digital-replica law in its 2024 report. Its summary and full report provide policy context—not a finding that Hamel’s project is unlawful.
Practical questions include:
- Who controls Somers’ postmortem publicity rights?
- Were the books, recordings and interviews licensed for this particular AI use?
- Does the system make money through subscriptions, product recommendations or advertising?
- Are users clearly told that every interaction is with AI?
- Who is responsible if it generates a harmful health response?
- Can family members request a correction, removal or shutdown?
- How would the rights be handled outside California?
The griefbot debate: tribute, technology and emotional risk
An interactive representation of a deceased person is part of a broader category often called a griefbot, deadbot, deathbot or postmortem avatar. Researchers and ethicists have identified possible benefits as well as serious risks.
Potential benefits include preserving a public figure’s work, helping users search an archive of books and interviews, supporting remembrance and allowing relatives to revisit documented aspects of a loved one’s life. For a fan, an interactive archive could be more engaging than reading a static biography.
But a system that produces new words in a dead person’s voice can also create an illusion of continued presence. It may fabricate memories, alter a mourner’s understanding of the person, intensify grief or encourage emotional dependence. Children and vulnerable users may not fully understand that the person is not alive and that the responses are generated.
There are commercial risks as well. A company could place products inside an emotionally meaningful conversation, use users’ questions to improve the system, change the representation’s personality, retrain it on new material or shut it down. Family members may also disagree about what should be included or what the deceased would have wanted.
Academic discussions of postmortem conversational systems have raised these concerns around consent, dignity, authenticity and psychological harm. See the research in Philosophy & Technology, the University of Cambridge repository’s responsible-application framework, and the background indexed by PubMed.

It is possible to regard Hamel’s project as a loving tribute and still ask whether its design protects users. Those positions are not contradictory. The emotional meaning of the project will vary among Hamel, Somers’ family, longtime fans and people encountering the AI without a personal connection to her.
What a responsible launch should disclose
If the Suzanne AI Twin becomes publicly available, users should look for clear answers to these questions before treating it as an authoritative source or emotional companion:
- Is the AI label permanent? Every screen, voice interaction and physical demonstration should make clear that the user is not speaking with Suzanne Somers.
- What sources were used? The service should identify whether it relies on the 27 books and interviews described by Hamel, additional material, private recordings or user-provided information.
- Are answers cited? Source links, quotations and confidence indicators would help users distinguish archival fact from generated language.
- How are medical questions handled? The system should use current, clearly dated health sources, provide prominent limitations, recognize emergencies and direct users to licensed professionals.
- Are conversations stored? A privacy policy should explain retention, deletion, sharing and whether user conversations are used for further training.
- Who can correct the AI? There should be a process for correcting false memories, misattributed opinions and inaccurate biographical details.
- Who controls the likeness? Users should know which person or organization holds authority over the voice, image, name and generated persona.
- How are vulnerable users protected? The service should address minors, people in acute grief and users who believe the AI is literally Somers.
- Are sales built into the conversation? Commercial recommendations should be clearly labeled, especially when connected to health or wellness products.
- What happens if the service closes? The operator should explain whether the representation can be transferred, archived or permanently shut down.
Bottom line
Alan Hamel has publicly described and demonstrated an AI-based Suzanne Somers project, and the March 2025 robot appearance showed how voice, likeness, conversational software and humanoid hardware can be combined. But the strongest version of the headline goes beyond the evidence.
What has been documented is a prototype demonstration and a planned “Suzanne AI Twin”—not the return of Suzanne Somers, not proof of authentic memories or consciousness, and not a verified public chatbot available to fans as of the website check on August 10, 2026.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

The project’s most important unanswered questions concern consent, factual accuracy, health safeguards, privacy, commercial use and emotional impact. Until those details are made public, readers should treat the system as an AI representation built from Somers-associated material, not as Suzanne Somers herself.
Frequently Asked Questions
Did Alan Hamel actually create an AI version of Suzanne Somers?
Hamel announced that he was developing a “Suzanne AI Twin,” and a related physical robot was demonstrated in March 2025. The public evidence does not establish that a finished, publicly available version had launched.
Was the demonstration a robot, chatbot or digital avatar?
It was a humanoid robot supplied by Realbotix using Hollo.AI conversational and digital-twin software. Realbotix described the robot as assuming the personality of Chrissy Snow, Somers’ character from Three’s Company. The later Suzanne AI Twin described by Hamel was a broader planned digital project.
Can fans talk to the Suzanne AI Twin now?
A public launch could not be verified. The SuzanneSomers.com homepage checked on August 10, 2026, did not visibly show an AI-twin chat interface, although that does not rule out private access or a later launch.

Hamel says Somers had discussed the idea with him and wanted it to continue serving fans and readers. No publicly available authorization document has been identified that specifies the permitted use of her voice, likeness, books, interviews, private memories or health-related persona.
Is the AI really Suzanne Somers?
No. It is an AI-generated representation that can imitate aspects of a person’s voice, appearance, style and documented knowledge. It is not evidence that Somers’ consciousness, soul, identity or authentic memories were transferred.
Can the AI safely answer medical questions?
Hamel said the planned system would direct health questions to material from doctors Somers interviewed. No independent evidence shows that it would provide current, clinically reviewed medical advice, so users should consult licensed healthcare professionals for medical decisions.
The Bottom Line
The project is real as an announced AI-and-robotics initiative, but the public record shows a demonstration and a planned digital twin—not proof that Suzanne Somers herself has been brought back or that a finished public chatbot is currently available.
