Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →As of August 10, 2026, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is primarily a home-viewing title in the United States, not a movie in a regular nationwide theatrical run. The film still has an official listing on Hulu, while the latest U.S. availability scan from JustWatch also listed Amazon Prime Video, Prime Video with Ads, and YouTube TV.
If you only want to watch it once, current U.S. listings show digital rentals from $3.99. Digital purchase options are listed at about $19.99 for several 4K offers. Prices and streaming rights can change, so treat those figures as prices checked on or around August 10, 2026—not permanent rates.
Quick answer: where can you watch Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?
- U.S. subscription streaming: Check Hulu first. Its official title page was still live when checked. JustWatch also reported Amazon Prime Video, Prime Video with Ads, and YouTube TV.
- U.S. rental: Several digital listings showed a rental price of $3.99, including offers associated with Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home.
- U.S. purchase: Several digital 4K offers were listed at $19.99. Spectrum On Demand also appeared in current availability data.
- Free streaming: No genuine free legal streaming option was reported in the latest JustWatch scan. A paid ad-supported subscription is not the same as free viewing.
- Theaters: There is no normal nationwide U.S. run, although isolated repertory, military, festival, or special-event screenings can still occur.
- Outside the U.S.: Disney+ is a significant international home for the film. Disney+ Canada has an official title page, and current Australian listings identify Disney+ as an option. Other countries may differ.
Best practical route: Search the official Hulu page first if you are in the U.S. If the title is unavailable under your account, check the local Prime Video interface for an included-subscription label. If you do not already have a suitable subscription, compare the one-time $3.99 rental with the cost of starting a monthly plan.
Is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes still in theaters?
The film is generally not in a regular nationwide U.S. theatrical release. Its wide U.S. theatrical release was May 10, 2024, according to the official 20th Century Studios page. It has since moved into the normal home-viewing window.

- Generations in the future following Caesar?s reign, apes are living harmoniously as the dominant species ? and humans are living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question the past and make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
That does not mean the film cannot be shown anywhere. Older films can return for repertory programs, franchise marathons, anniversary events, festivals, military-base screenings, or other one-off engagements. For example, a U.S. Navy MWR Naples schedule listed isolated screenings in July 2026, but those dates had already passed by August 10.
A generic Fandango listing, an old theater page, or an IMAX, Dolby, 4DX, ScreenX, or D-Box archive page is not proof that a current screening exists. The page must show a specific date, theater, and selectable session.
How to check local showtimes correctly
- Open the Fandango title page or a major local theater-ticketing site.
- Enter your ZIP code, city, or theater location.
- Select the exact 2024 film, not a trailer page, premium-format archive, or similarly named title.
- Choose the date you actually want to attend.
- Confirm that a real showtime is displayed and that seats or tickets can be selected.
- Check the theater’s own website before traveling, especially if the listing appears to be a special event.
If no actual times appear after entering your location and date, the safest conclusion is that there is no currently scheduled local screening—not that the film is necessarily impossible to show anywhere.
Where to stream it in the United States
U.S. streaming information is unusually easy to misread because first-party services and availability aggregators may update at different times. The official Hulu page remained live when checked on August 10, 2026, while the latest JustWatch U.S. scan, dated August 9, listed other subscription providers and did not include Hulu in its current provider summary.

Catalogs, account eligibility, regional rights, and database updates can change independently. Use the following table as a dated guide and verify the title inside the service you plan to use.
| Service | Access type | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Hulu | Subscription streaming | Hulu’s official title page remained available when checked. The page showed plans starting at $11.99 per month at that time, but Hulu pricing is subject to change. |
| Amazon Prime Video | Subscription listing and paid VOD options | JustWatch’s August 9 scan listed Prime Video. Amazon’s own page also displayed rental and purchase options. Confirm whether your screen says included with your subscription or asks you to pay separately. |
| Prime Video with Ads | Paid ad-supported subscription | JustWatch listed this separately. It should not be described as free merely because advertisements are shown. |
| YouTube TV | Subscription access | Listed by JustWatch, but availability can depend on the local market and account. Verify the title in your YouTube TV interface before subscribing solely for this film. |
| Disney+ U.S. | Region and bundle dependent | Do not assume a standalone U.S. Disney+ license. Eligible subscribers may be able to access Hulu-library content through a Disney+/Hulu bundle or linked account, as explained by Disney+ Help. That is different from the film being independently licensed in the U.S. Disney+ catalog. |
| Netflix, Max, and Peacock | No current confirmation found | The strongest checked sources did not confirm current availability on these services. Do not rely on older 2024 articles or search snippets. |
Subscription warning: The phrase available on Prime Video can refer to included Prime access, an ad-supported tier, a channel, or a transaction page. Open the title and look for the exact button or label before assuming it is included in your plan.

Can you rent or buy it digitally?
Yes. Current U.S. listings showed $3.99 rentals and $19.99 purchases for several offers, including 4K options. Retailers appearing in the current data include:
- Amazon Video / Prime Video
- Apple TV Store
- Fandango At Home
- Spectrum On Demand
Amazon’s title page displayed a $3.99 UHD rental and a $19.99 UHD purchase when checked. The JustWatch U.S. page showed comparable offers from multiple retailers.
Should you rent or subscribe?
| Choose this | It makes the most sense when… |
|---|---|
| Subscription streaming | You already pay for Hulu or Prime Video, want to watch other films, or plan to explore more of the franchise. The trade-off is that catalog access can change. |
| $3.99 rental | You want this one film and do not already have a suitable subscription. A one-time rental is less expensive than starting a $11.99-per-month Hulu plan based on the prices checked. |
| $19.99 digital purchase | You expect several rewatches, want household access through a digital store, or prefer not to depend on a subscription catalog. Verify the retailer’s resolution, device compatibility, audio, subtitle, and portability details. |
| Physical copy | You want the most stable long-term access and own compatible Blu-ray or 4K hardware. The upfront cost is usually higher, but the disc is not dependent on a streaming license remaining active. |
Prices can vary by retailer, sale, account region, resolution, taxes, and device. Do not treat $3.99 or $19.99 as a guaranteed universal price.
Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K availability
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes became available to own digitally on July 9, 2024, followed by its physical Blu-ray release on August 27, 2024, according to 20th Century Studios.
Current availability data includes listings for DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD, although inventory, sellers, format bundles, and prices vary. If you want a physical edition, check whether the listing is for standard Blu-ray, 4K UHD, DVD, or a multi-format package. A 4K disc also requires a compatible 4K Ultra HD player and display; a digital retailer’s UHD label is a separate matter.
Physical media is the better choice for viewers concerned about streaming removals or changing regional rights. Digital purchase is more convenient for viewers who do not use discs, but access remains tied to the retailer account and its supported ecosystem.

Is it on Disney+?
There is no single worldwide Disney+ answer. Streaming rights are assigned by country and can change independently.
- Canada: Disney+ has an official Canadian title page.
- Australia: Current Australian availability listings identify Disney+ as a streaming option, according to JustWatch Australia.
- United States: Do not interpret international Disney+ listings as proof of standalone U.S. availability. In the U.S., an eligible Disney+/Hulu bundle or linked account may provide access to Hulu-library titles inside Disney+, but that does not necessarily mean the film has a separate Disney+ U.S. license.
- United Kingdom and other regions: Check the local Disney+ catalog or a country-specific availability tracker. Do not use U.S., Canadian, or Australian results as evidence for another market.
- India and comparable markets: Disney+ Hotstar or another local Disney-branded service may handle rights differently. Search the local platform using the exact title.
The film originally used Hulu in the United States and Disney+ in international markets, but that launch pattern should not be treated as a permanent rule for every country.
Do you need to watch the earlier Planet of the Apes films?
No, but watching the previous trilogy will make the film richer. Kingdom takes place several generations after Caesar’s reign and introduces a new central character, Noa. It is designed to be approachable as a new story rather than taking place immediately after War for the Planet of the Apes.
For the most useful spoiler-free preparation, watch these three films in release order:

That sequence supplies the background of Caesar, the growth of ape society, and the transformation of the human world. You do not need to watch the older original series before Kingdom to understand the reboot continuity. Hulu’s related-title section also lists the Caesar-era films and other franchise entries, although the lineup may vary by account and date.

Why do some listings say 2 hours 19 minutes?
Amazon’s page displayed a runtime of 2 hours 19 minutes, while both 20th Century Studios and Apple TV list 2 hours 25 minutes. The studio and Apple TV figure is the better standard reference here. The discrepancy is a metadata difference; there is not enough evidence to claim that Amazon is listing a different cut of the film.

- Using a 2024 article as current evidence: Early coverage discussed the theatrical release and predicted streaming availability. It does not answer where the film is available in August 2026.
- Calling an ad-supported subscription free: Advertising does not remove the subscription requirement.
- Assuming Prime means included: Confirm whether the title is included with your plan or offered only as a rental or purchase.
- Conflating Hulu and Disney+: Bundle access to Hulu-library content is not identical to a standalone Disney+ license.
- Trusting a generic theater page: Look for a current date, location, and selectable showtime.
- Assuming a price is permanent: Digital stores regularly change prices and promotional offers.
- Assuming every country has the same catalog: Search the platform serving your country, not a U.S. listing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on Netflix?
No current Netflix listing was confirmed in the strongest sources checked for this guide. Availability can change, so search Netflix directly in your country rather than relying on an older streaming article.
Is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes free on Hulu?
No. Hulu requires a paid subscription. Hulu’s page showed plans starting at $11.99 per month when checked on August 10, 2026. The price and plan lineup can change, and an ad-supported plan is still not free.
Is the movie included with Amazon Prime?
JustWatch’s August 9, 2026 U.S. scan listed the film on Amazon Prime Video and Prime Video with Ads, but Prime Video can display both included subscription titles and paid rentals or purchases. Open the title in your own account and confirm that it says included before watching.
Is it on Disney+ in the United States?
Do not assume standalone U.S. Disney+ availability from international listings. An eligible Disney+/Hulu bundle or linked account may provide access to Hulu-library content through Disney+, but that is different from a separate U.S. Disney+ license.
Can I still see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes in IMAX?
There is no regular nationwide theatrical run as of August 10, 2026, but isolated premium-format, repertory, military, festival, or special-event screenings may occur. Use a ZIP-code search on Fandango, select a current date, and verify the session with the theater.
Best Value
How much does it cost to rent the movie?
Several U.S. digital offers were listed at $3.99 when checked, including an Amazon UHD rental. Retailer prices, sales, resolution, taxes, and account regions can change.
Where can I buy the 4K version?
Current listings show 4K digital purchase options through retailers such as Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home, with several offers listed at $19.99 when checked. Physical 4K Ultra HD listings are also available, subject to inventory and region.
What should I watch before Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?
For the essential backstory, watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and War for the Planet of the Apes in that order. Kingdom follows a new protagonist, Noa, several generations after Caesar’s reign, so newcomers can also watch it first.
Why does one site list the runtime as 2 hours 19 minutes and another as 2 hours 25 minutes?
Amazon’s metadata displayed 2 hours 19 minutes, while 20th Century Studios and Apple TV list 2 hours 25 minutes. This guide uses the official studio and Apple TV runtime and does not treat the difference as evidence of an alternate cut.

Why does Fandango show the movie if there are no local showtimes?
Ticketing sites often keep title pages, trailer pages, premium-format archives, or generic ticket links online after a normal theatrical run ends. A page is not proof of a current screening until it shows a date, theater, and selectable session.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: U.S. viewers should check Hulu first, then verify Prime Video or YouTube TV through their own accounts. If they only want this 2024 film, the $3.99 digital rental listed on August 10, 2026 is usually the simplest low-cost fallback; a $19.99 digital purchase or physical 4K/Blu-ray copy makes more sense for repeat viewing. Outside the U.S., check the local Disney+ catalog because availability varies by country.
