Why was the Survivor 47 finale spread over two weeks?
The season finale was presented in two consecutive Wednesday broadcasts, each scheduled for two hours. The first installment aired Dec. 11, 2024; the second aired Dec. 18. In other words, “two-part” described the broadcast schedule, not a competition that continued across two separate weeks of play.
CBS billed the Dec. 11 episode as “part one of the two-part season 47 finale.” Its Dec. 5, 2024 announcement said: “It’s double the immunity challenges and double the tribal councils in part one of the two-part season 47 finale.”

Was it the usual day and time?
Yes. Both installments were scheduled on Wednesdays from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, one week apart. TVLine reported Nov. 18, 2024, that the split made the season run 14 weeks rather than the typical 13 and called the four-hour, two-week finale unprecedented for the show at that point. That report described the schedule; the sources do not establish why CBS chose it.
How could viewers watch the 2024 broadcasts?
In its December 2024 announcements, CBS said Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers could stream each broadcast live and on demand, while Paramount+ Essential subscribers could watch on demand the day after broadcast. Those were the access terms CBS stated for these broadcasts in 2024; they do not confirm current subscription terms, replay timing, or catalog availability.
