Sullivan’s Crossing follows Dr. Maggie Sullivan, a Boston neurosurgeon whose personal and professional life changes when she returns to the Nova Scotia campground run by her estranged father, Harry “Sully” Sullivan. The series combines family drama, romance, recovery and the close-knit community around the Crossing.
This guide covers the principal cast, their characters and the major Season 4 additions. Spoiler warning: the character descriptions include developments from the first four seasons.
Main Sullivan’s Crossing cast and characters
| Actor | Character | Role in the series |

| Chad Michael Murray | Cal Jones | A compassionate Search and Rescue worker and Maggie’s romantic partner. His story also involves the difficult relationship with his estranged father. |
| Tom Jackson | Frank Cranebear | Sully’s best friend and sponsor. Frank brings practical advice and understated humor to the group while working closely with Edna and reconnecting with his cousin’s son, Jacob. |
| Andrea Menard | Edna Cranebear | Frank’s partner and Sully’s business partner. She takes an active role in improving and operating the campground. |

Morgan Kohan as Dr. Maggie Sullivan
Maggie is the show’s central character. She begins as a highly successful neurosurgeon in Boston, but a crisis sends her back to the rural Nova Scotia community she left behind. Returning to the Crossing forces her to confront her family history, especially her unresolved relationship with Sully.
Her storyline is not simply a career-versus-romance plot. Maggie has to decide whether her identity is tied to the demanding medical career she built in Boston or whether she can create a different future at the Crossing. Her relationship with Cal becomes one of the series’ main emotional threads.
#1 Best Overall
Scott Patterson as Harry “Sully” Sullivan
Scott Patterson played Harry “Sully” Sullivan, Maggie’s father and the longtime operator of Sullivan’s Crossing. Sully’s arc centres on recovery from alcoholism, repairing the damage done to his relationship with Maggie and learning to live with the consequences of his past.
Patterson appears in the first three seasons but does not return as a Season 4 regular. His departure was reported before Season 4 premiered, with Patterson citing creative differences. Sully remains an important part of the show’s history and of Maggie’s character, but Patterson should not be included in a Season 4 cast list.
The community around the Crossing
Tom Jackson as Frank Cranebear
Frank is one of Sully’s most dependable friends. As Sully’s sponsor, he supports his recovery while still speaking plainly when Sully makes a poor decision. Frank’s connection with Edna gives the campground another long-standing partnership, and Jacob’s arrival adds a family dimension to his story.
Andrea Menard as Edna Cranebear
Edna is both Frank’s partner and Sully’s business partner. Her role expands beyond personal support: she helps shape the future of the campground and pushes the operation toward practical improvements.

Cal works in Search and Rescue, a role that fits his calm, capable and compassionate personality. His relationship with Maggie develops alongside his own struggle to deal with estrangement from his father, giving the romance a family conflict of its own.
Rank #2
Amalia Williamson as Lola Gunderson
Lola’s story is about rebuilding rather than returning to an old life. Following a serious accident, she works to regain stability and purpose. Her Season 3 social-work internship places her in contact with at-risk young people and gives her a direction separate from Maggie’s and the other adults’ conflicts.
Sydney Shandon and Rafe Vadas
Lindura plays Sydney Shandon, Rob’s sister and a friend within Maggie and Lola’s circle. Dakota Taylor plays Rafe Vadas, a firefighter who becomes interim chief of the Timberlake Fire Department after Connie Boyle’s departure. Their relationship develops under pressure as both characters try to work out what they want next.
Reid Price as Rob Shandon
Rob is a single father trying to keep his family and livelihood together. The accidental diner fire leaves him facing the practical problem of rebuilding his business, while his son Finn’s safety remains the more urgent concern.

Important recurring characters
- Zayn Maloney as Finn Shandon: Rob’s son, whose safety is central to Rob’s Season 3 storyline.
- Lauren Hammersley as Connie Boyle: A former Timberlake fire chief. Her departure leads to Rafe becoming interim chief.
- Kate Vernon as Helen Culver: A bestselling romance novelist who visits the Crossing for inspiration and develops a connection with Sully.
- Joel Oulette as Jacob Cranebear: Frank’s cousin’s son, who visits while researching lichen for a master’s thesis.
- Peter Outerbridge as Walter Lancaster: Phoebe Lancaster’s husband and a figure connected to Maggie’s complicated family history. He is listed among the series’ cast, although official Season 4 materials do not identify him as part of that season’s ensemble.
- Lynda Boyd as Phoebe Lancaster: A recurring character linked to Maggie’s family.
- Allan Hawco as Andrew Mathews: A recurring character listed in the series cast.
Who is not in the Season 4 cast?
The most important correction to older cast lists is Scott Patterson. He played Sully through Season 3 but did not return for Season 4. Marcus Rosner’s Liam Davies is also not an original member of the ensemble: he joins in Season 4 as Maggie’s ex-husband.
The series has been renewed for Season 5. However, no official Season 5 cast details or premiere date have been announced, so lists claiming a confirmed Season 5 lineup should be treated cautiously.
