Progressive hints for “All over the place”
Hint 1: Think about the theme
The answers describe disorder, volatility or behavior that is difficult to control. Imagine a two-year-old in the middle of a tantrum or a heated argument with a volatile lover.
Hint 2: First two letters
These are the opening pairs of the entries, in the answer order used by the published puzzle guides:
#1 Best Overall
- UN
- CH
- ST
- TU
- DI
- TH
The final pair belongs to the spangram rather than one of the five regular theme words.
Hint 3: Spangram placement
The nine-letter spangram starts at the left edge of the third row and finishes at the right edge of the fifth row. That placement can help you trace it before searching for the shorter words.
Hint 4: Words that advance the hint counter
TechRadar’s examples of in-game hint words are WISDOM, WHAT, STAND, DRUM, THAN and LOUT. These are ordinary words to enter to progress the hint system; they are not answers in this puzzle.

Strands answers for December 13, 2025
Theme words
- UNRULY
- CHAOTIC
- STORMY
- TUMULTUOUS
- DISORDERLY
Each word fits the “All over the place” idea by describing a lack of order, control or calm.
Spangram
THATSWILD is the nine-letter spangram. It is often written in prose as “THAT’S WILD,” but the grid entry omits the apostrophe and space.
How the clues fit the board
The opening pairs identify the entries without revealing every letter at once: UNRULY begins with UN, CHAOTIC with CH, STORMY with ST, TUMULTUOUS with TU, DISORDERLY with DI, and THATSWILD with TH. Because the spangram runs from the left edge of row three to the right edge of row five, locating it first can divide the 6-by-8 grid into more manageable search areas.
