The Summer I Turned Pretty is not getting an officially announced fourth season. Amazon says Season 3 was the final season, and the story will conclude with a feature film directed by series creator Jenny Han. The movie’s release date, plot details and full cast have not been announced.
Is The Summer I Turned Pretty getting a season 4?
No fourth season has been announced. Amazon’s September 19, 2025 announcement describes Season 3 as the show’s final season and says the story will continue to its conclusion in a movie. Amazon had previously announced Season 3 as an 11-episode final season in its Season 3 pickup announcement.
That makes “Season 4” a misleading label for what is currently confirmed. The announced continuation is a feature film, not another episodic season.
What Amazon has confirmed about the movie
- Format: A feature film that will conclude the story.
- Director: Jenny Han, who created the series.
- Release date: Not given in Amazon’s announcement.
- Plot: Specifics are under wraps.
- Cast: The full movie cast is to be announced later.
Amazon’s announcement does not confirm which series actors will appear in the film. The series credits include Lola Tung as Isabel “Belly” Conklin, Christopher Briney as Conrad Fisher and Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah Fisher, along with Sean Kaufman, Jackie Chung, Rain Spencer, Rachel Blanchard, Colin Ferguson and Tom Everett Scott. Those credits should not be treated as confirmation of the movie cast.

How the movie connects to the series
Prime Video’s Season 3 page describes Belly as facing a crossroads between brothers Conrad and Jeremiah as she approaches adulthood. It lists three seasons and identifies the series as based on Jenny Han’s book. Amazon describes Han’s trilogy as the source material for the adaptation.
Viewers who want to explore the story in its original form can read Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty books. The film announcement establishes that the screen story will get a movie conclusion; it does not provide enough detail to say exactly how the film’s plot will relate to the books or the series ending.

Why Amazon announced a movie
Amazon says the series reached 70 million global viewers through Season 3’s first 70 days. That is Amazon’s reported audience figure for that specific window, not an independently audited measurement.
Han said she was grateful to the cast and crew and to Prime Video for supporting the series and her vision, and said she looked forward to welcoming viewers back to Cousins Beach for the movie. She also described the chance to bring her books from page to screen and see audiences embrace the adaptation as a dream come true.
