Spotify Wrapped 2024 included a personalized AI Podcast built with technology from Google NotebookLM. Two synthetic hosts discussed an individual listener’s favorite tracks, artists, listening patterns and musical evolution. It was a limited-time, English-language experiment for eligible Spotify Free and Premium users in seven countries—not a permanent Spotify feature and not the same as creating a NotebookLM notebook yourself.
What was the Spotify Wrapped AI Podcast?
Announced on December 4, 2024, the feature turned a listener’s annual Wrapped information into a dynamically generated audio conversation. Rather than playing a standard podcast episode, Spotify created a recap for one account, with two AI hosts talking about that person’s year in music.

The discussion could cover favorite songs and artists, listening habits and how musical taste changed during 2024. Google described it as a personalized audio experience, while Spotify presented it as a way to reconnect with the music that defined the listener’s year. The official announcement is available from Google and Spotify.
That personalization also means it should not be treated as a downloadable, universal podcast episode. The audio was generated for an eligible listener from that listener’s Wrapped context.

How NotebookLM powered the experience
Google said the feature used technology behind NotebookLM’s Audio Overviews, which turn supplied information into a conversational exchange between AI hosts. Spotify supplied the consumer-facing Wrapped experience and listener-specific Wrapped information; Google supplied the audio-generation technology.
This was not Spotify embedding the entire NotebookLM product in its app. Users did not have to open NotebookLM, build a notebook or upload Spotify files. The official flow hid that workflow and delivered the generated conversation through Spotify.
Conversely, opening standalone NotebookLM does not automatically give access to a person’s private Spotify Wrapped data. Re-creating a similar experiment would require providing NotebookLM with sources that a user is entitled to share, and it would be a separate activity from the official integration.

How users accessed it in 2024
These were the instructions published for the December 2024 release, not a guarantee that the controls remain present:
- Open Spotify and sign in to the account used for Wrapped.
- Open the Wrapped feed on Spotify’s home page.
- Select Your Wrapped AI podcast.
- Alternatively, visit spotify.com/wrappedAIpodcast.
- Use Spotify’s controls to listen, share the podcast or download it.
If the card did not appear, the likely explanations included account eligibility, country or language restrictions, the feature’s limited-time window, or simply looking at a later Wrapped experience rather than the 2024 podcast.
Who was eligible?
Google said the launch was restricted by account type, language, country and time. Free users were not automatically excluded: eligible Free and Premium accounts could receive it.

Was it really AI-generated?
Yes. The hosts and their conversation were generated for each eligible listener using that listener’s Wrapped information. “AI-generated audio recap” and “NotebookLM-powered audio experience” are accurate descriptions.

- Coverage: the conversation was a selective recap, not every listening statistic.
- Interpretation: commentary about taste was entertainment, not a scientific profile.
- Voice and tone: some listeners found synthetic hosts engaging, while others found the format awkward or strange; contemporary reactions should be understood as reviewer opinions rather than a measured product defect.
The public announcements did not specify the complete backend data pipeline, retention period, training use of listener data, underlying prompt or exact model. It is safer to describe the user-facing behavior than to claim that Spotify sent Google a complete listening history.

The AI Podcast was one part of a broader Wrapped redesign. Spotify also introduced Your Music Evolution, which described changing musical phases across the year, and DJ: Wrapped, a beta version of Spotify’s personalized DJ. The 2024 experience added new typography, colors, layouts, animated loops and other shareable summaries, alongside podcast- and audiobook-related categories. Spotify’s broader announcement is at Spotify Newsroom.
Those features provide context, but they were not all NotebookLM integrations. The distinctive element of the AI Podcast was its two-host, spoken interpretation of an individual’s Wrapped data.

Is the 2024 AI Podcast still available?
Do not assume it is. Google described the feature as available only for a limited time. The original URL may redirect, fail, or lead to a later Spotify experience, and current Wrapped pages may show a different year’s cards or playlists. There is no basis here for promising that an old download or in-app control still works in 2026.
If you are checking an old account, sign in to the intended Spotify profile and look in the current Wrapped feed. If “Your Wrapped AI podcast” is absent, verify that you are not searching for the generic Wrapped or DJ card, then treat the feature as expired rather than assuming Premium will restore it.
Why the experiment mattered
Spotify Wrapped traditionally presents personal statistics as graphics, rankings and playlists. The NotebookLM-powered podcast tested a different idea: make the recap feel like a piece of media with hosts, pacing and commentary. That could make familiar numbers feel more social and memorable, especially when the listener shared the resulting audio.
It also exposed the limits of synthetic narration. Personal inputs did not guarantee a deeply personal conversation; generated hosts could mispronounce names, skip meaningful details or sound generic. For listeners who want exact figures, a standard Wrapped summary or playlist remains clearer. For those curious about AI interfaces, the podcast showed how a company could transform structured personal data into an on-demand conversational format without asking users to operate an AI notebook themselves.
