No. Spotify does not currently show people who viewed their profile or notify them when someone simply opens it. As of August 18, 2026, Spotify documents no user-facing profile-visitor list or profile-view notification setting. That answer is about what Spotify exposes to users—not whether it records internal usage data.
Browsing is different from interacting: follows, playlist activity, messages, shares, and listening-activity features may be visible. Here’s what a profile can reveal and how to check your privacy settings.
What happens when you view someone’s Spotify profile?
Searching for a user, opening their profile, or looking at information displayed there is not documented as an event that Spotify reports to that person. Spotify’s Privacy and Social controls explain settings for activity and profile content, but do not offer a profile visitor history or alert. Spotify’s public profile API describes profile information such as a display name, image, Spotify URL, user ID, and follower total; the reviewed public API does not document profile-view identities or counts.
This is the practical distinction: someone may be able to see information on a profile without being told who looked at it. The public documentation supports that user-facing conclusion; it is not proof about every internal analytics or security event Spotify may record.

What can someone see on your Spotify profile?
Spotify’s privacy policy identifies profile names, profile photos, public playlists, and other content posted on Spotify—including associated titles, descriptions, and images—as publicly available information, subject to the exception for users who have been blocked. Depending on your settings and available features, a profile can also show recently played artists and follower or following information.
Spotify has a separate Recently played artists setting. When enabled, it places highlights of recent listening on your public profile. Spotify says this is on by default for users 18 and older and off by default for those under 18, but defaults can vary or change; check your own setting rather than relying on the default. A visitor might see the artists shown there, but the profile owner still is not told who visited.
Which actions might make you visible?
Spotify does not document alerts for passive profile browsing, but actions around a profile are different. Treat these as potentially discoverable:
- Following the user: The relationship may appear in follower information or other account activity. Spotify’s notification behavior can vary, so do not rely on a guarantee that a follow will—or will not—send an alert.
- Following a playlist: Spotify’s playlist documentation says playlist owners can receive notifications for playlist follows.
- Joining or editing a collaborative playlist: Other collaborators may see your participation or changes.
- Adding tracks to a playlist: Depending on the playlist and feature, the owner or others may see the change or receive activity notifications.
- Sending a Spotify message, sharing content directly, or interacting with a listening-activity feature: These are direct interactions, not passive views.
Opening a public playlist is not the same as tapping Follow. If you want to minimize visible interaction, browse without following, editing, messaging, or sharing.
Copying or sharing a profile link does not itself tell the profile owner who opened it through Spotify. If you send the link through another service, that service may have its own read receipts, link previews, or analytics; those are separate from Spotify profile-view notifications.
Does Private Session hide profile visits?
No. Private Session is a listening-activity control, not a profile-browsing mode. Spotify describes it as a temporary way to limit listening activity shared with followers or displayed through social features. It does not create or suppress a profile-view record, and it does not undo a follow, playlist interaction, message, or share.

If your only concern is that someone will be notified because you opened their profile, Spotify does not document such a notification, so Private Session is unnecessary for that purpose. Spotify describes the session as temporary; check that it is still active if you are relying on it to limit listening activity.

Spotify’s menus and social features can differ between mobile and desktop, and may vary by account, market, age, or rollout. Review the controls available in your app.
On mobile
- Tap your profile picture at the top.
- Tap Settings and privacy.
- Scroll to Privacy and Social.
- Review Followers & following, Listening activity, Recently played artists, Public playlists, Playlists appear on your profile, and Blocked users, as available.
On desktop
- Click your profile picture.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll to Social.
- Review Start a private session, Share my listening activity on Spotify, Show my recently played artists on my public profile, and Show my follower and following lists on my public profile.
The controls address different things:
- Listening activity controls sharing of what you are listening to. Spotify says desktop activity can appear in followers’ Friend Activity feed when sharing is enabled.
- Recently played artists controls highlights shown on your public profile; it does not hide the profile from visitors.
- Followers & following controls visibility of those lists where the setting is available.
- Public playlists and Playlists appear on your profile govern playlist visibility and whether playlists are displayed on the profile. A playlist’s visibility and whether it appears on your profile are distinct considerations; review both controls.
- Blocked users lets you restrict a particular account. Spotify’s support community says blocking prevents that person from seeing your profile or listening activity and from following you or your playlists. Blocking cannot erase information they already saw, saved, or captured.
Spotify also announced a listening-activity experience in Messages in January 2026. It may show activity to contacts you have already messaged, with controls over who can see it. That is separate from profile views; see Spotify’s announcement and check the controls available to your account.
Some privacy defaults differ for users under 18. Spotify’s support guidance advises minors to consult a guardian before changing settings.
Can a third-party site show who viewed your Spotify profile?
Spotify’s official privacy documentation and reviewed public API do not support claims that a third-party service can reveal profile visitors. Treat such claims as unsupported. Be especially cautious if a site asks for your Spotify password, broad account permissions, payment, a browser extension, or a download. Do not provide credentials or grant access unless you can independently verify the service and understand the permissions. Spotify does not document a profile-viewer feature for Premium, either.
