Sony’s official FAQ says Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes place four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film’s synopsis sets up what Peter Parker’s life looks like in that interval: he fights crime full-time as Spider-Man while a world that has forgotten him moves on.
What Sony’s synopsis confirms—and what it doesn’t
Sony’s official synopsis describes Peter facing the pressure of seeing old friends move on without him. It says that pressure sparks a change he may not be able to control, while a powerful, unseen villain threatens the city and the people he loves. The synopsis closes: “The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.”
The synopsis does not state the four-year figure. That chronology appears separately in Sony’s official FAQ, which places the story four years after No Way Home. The distinction matters: the FAQ confirms the interval; the synopsis describes Peter’s circumstances and the film’s conflict.
What the four-year gap means for Peter
Sony’s FAQ connects the new story to Doctor Strange’s spell, which caused the world to forget Peter Parker. Peter sacrificed his relationships with MJ and Ned and devoted himself to being Spider-Man full-time. In the intervening years, MJ and Ned have attended MIT and return to New York. Sony frames loss and isolation as forces reshaping Peter, but the official synopsis does not explain the mechanics of his transformation or identify the unseen villain.
