Disney’s 2025 live-action Snow White earned about $205.7 million worldwide, while The Numbers lists its production budget at $269.4 million. That puts reported ticket sales about $63.7 million below the listed production budget—but it does not establish the film’s break-even point or final profit or loss. Marketing, theater revenue shares, distribution costs and other income are not captured by that simple comparison.
What did Snow White cost?
Published figures differ because they come from different sources and do not necessarily share the same basis. The Los Angeles Times reported an estimated production cost of $250 million before marketing on March 23, 2025. The Associated Press described the budget as above $250 million. The Numbers lists a production budget of $269.4 million. These are reported estimates or database records, not an audited budget disclosure by Disney.

The distinction between production and marketing matters: the Los Angeles Times explicitly excluded marketing from its estimate. The available figures do not establish the film’s final marketing spend.
How did the opening compare with projections?
Before release, the Los Angeles Times reported an expected domestic opening weekend of $45 million to $55 million, based on analyst and presale estimates. The film opened in US cinemas on March 21, 2025. The Numbers lists its domestic opening weekend at $42,206,415; the Associated Press reported an initial studio estimate of about $43 million and a global launch of about $87.3 million.

| Measure | Figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic opening forecast | $45 million–$55 million | Pre-release expectation reported by the Los Angeles Times in 2025; not a worldwide forecast. |
| Domestic opening result | $42,206,415 | The Numbers’ database figure, accessed in 2026. |
| Initial worldwide launch estimate | About $87.3 million | Opening-period estimate reported by the Associated Press, not the final worldwide total. |
The domestic forecast and opening result are close enough to show the scale of the miss, but they are not identical measures: one was a forecast range and the other a reported result. The AP’s worldwide launch estimate covers a different geography and period.
How much did Snow White make worldwide?
The Numbers lists final theatrical grosses of $87,203,963 domestically, $118,475,500 internationally and $205,679,463 worldwide. These are box-office gross figures, not amounts Disney necessarily received. The database lists March 21, 2025, as the US domestic release date and May 13, 2025, as the video release date.

As a territory-specific opening example, Disney UK reported that the film took £3.85 million in the UK and Ireland over its three-day opening weekend in March 2025. That is not a final international gross.
Did Snow White break even?
The public figures cited here do not establish an exact break-even gross. The Numbers’ worldwide gross is approximately $63.7 million below its listed production budget. That is a comparison of gross ticket sales with a production-budget record—not a calculation of the studio’s loss.

A full break-even calculation would require a fuller accounting basis, including marketing and distribution costs, the share of ticket revenue retained by theaters, and revenue from other channels. Those figures are not established by the sources cited here. The defensible conclusion is that the film grossed less worldwide than The Numbers’ listed production budget, before marketing; its exact studio break-even point and ultimate profit or loss are not publicly established by these figures.

Snow White was a live-action musical reimagining of Disney’s 1937 film, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot and directed by Marc Webb, with new songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The release attracted pre-release controversy; for example, the Associated Press reported that Peter Dinklage criticized the remake plans as “backward” in 2022. But the available box-office figures do not isolate the effect of controversy, reviews, competition or any other factor on the film’s commercial result.
Daniel Loria, senior vice president at Boxoffice Co., told the Los Angeles Times in March 2025: “To say that the stakes for ‘Snow White’ are only on Disney ignores the fact that this entire industry was expecting a better first quarter.” That comment described wider industry expectations, not a film-specific budget or break-even estimate.
