Nikki Glaser hosted Saturday Night Live on November 8, 2025, with sombr as musical guest. The episode’s standout moments span a topical cold open, Glaser’s monologue and character sketches, a surprise Pete Davidson appearance on Weekend Update, and two songs from sombr. Which sketches are the “highs” is a matter of judgment: Peacock’s recap lists the episode’s segments but does not rank them.
Episode at a glance
This was Saturday Night Live Season 51, Episode 5. Nikki Glaser hosted for the first time, and sombr was the musical guest, according to Peacock’s episode listing and its November 10 recap by Shaun Edwards.
Highs: the sketches and moments that give the episode its range
Peacock’s recap provides descriptions rather than a best-to-worst ranking. The picks below are an editorial guide to the premises and performances most likely to draw a viewer’s attention, not a claim of audience consensus.
Glaser’s monologue
Glaser works through beauty standards, spray tans, celebrity culture, taboo subjects and double standards in entertainment. As the host’s direct introduction to her comic voice, the monologue sets up themes that recur in the episode’s character-driven sketches.

Weekend Update and Pete Davidson’s surprise appearance
Colin Jost and Michael Che deliver the segment’s topical jokes before former cast member Pete Davidson appears with a self-deprecating bit, as Peacock’s recap describes it. The unexpected return gives the familiar desk format a distinct moment.
Mechanical Bull
Glaser and Sarah Sherman play participants in a bachelorette-party sketch that turns a mechanical bull ride into a time-warping misadventure. The escalating premise gives both performers room to push the scene into stranger territory.

Karaoke Night
Glaser and Andrew Dismukes play siblings singing “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls and “I’ll Make Love to You” by Boyz II Men, with Kenan Thompson as DJ Freakalicious. The recognizable songs and awkward family dynamic drive the sketch’s comedy.
Other sketches in the lineup

- Spirit Tunnel Anxiety: A daytime-talk-show spoof imagines Hudsacillin, a fictional product meant to make celebrities sick so they can avoid Jennifer Hudson’s “Spirit Tunnel” introduction.
- Beauty and Mr. Beast: Glaser plays Belle opposite Michael Longfellow as a YouTuber-inspired Beast.
- American Girl Doll XL: A parody commercial builds a sketch around oversized dolls for adult collectors. The premise is a joke, not evidence of an actual product or endorsement.
- Pilot Announcement: James Austin Johnson plays a pilot who shares personal details over the intercom; Glaser is a flight attendant.
- Pinwheel: Glaser plays Anna, who returns to a magical forest populated by strange woodland creatures.
- Brad and His Dad: An animated sketch follows a divorced father trying to connect with his introverted son through video games.

Sombr’s songs
Sombr performed “12 to 12” and “back to friends.” Peacock’s recap characterizes “12 to 12” as blending 1980s synth-pop grooves and funk, and “back to friends” as intimate and emotionally raw; those are the recap’s critical descriptions rather than measured audience reactions.
