Yes—Snapchat Creator Subscriptions are real, but they are not yet available to every creator. Snapchat is rolling out the paid-membership feature to select creators invited by email. Participating creators can charge fans monthly for benefits such as subscriber-only Stories, direct Snaps, priority replies and subscriber badges.
The feature was announced on February 17, 2026, and alpha testing began on February 23 with a select group of U.S.-based Snap Creators. Snapchat said it planned to expand to additional Snap Stars in Canada, the United Kingdom and France. Its support documentation, reviewed on August 18, 2026, still describes Creator Subscriptions as a limited rollout.
What Creator Subscriptions are
Creator Subscriptions are a recurring-payment feature attached to an individual Snapchat creator. Fans pay a monthly fee through the app store associated with their device, while the creator provides benefits configured through Snapchat.
This is separate from Snapchat+, which users pay Snapchat for platform-level features. It is also distinct from Snapchat’s advertising-related Monetization Program and from brand partnerships. Snap presents Creator Subscriptions as an additional monetization layer alongside its other creator programs.

What subscribers receive
The exact benefits can vary by creator and may change during the rollout. Snapchat lists several possible features:
- Direct Snaps: A creator can send subscription Snaps to subscribers, where they appear in Chat.
- Subscriber-only Stories: Creators can publish Stories or other content restricted to paying members.
- Priority Story Replies: Subscriber replies to public Stories can receive higher placement in the creator’s inbox and display a Subscriber badge.
- Badges and customizations: Subscribers may receive visual markers or other community perks.
Subscription Stories can appear in the Stories area with a padlock icon and blue Story ring. Snapchat says they may also be mixed with a creator’s public Story rather than appearing in a completely separate feed.
There is an important privacy detail: Snapchat says creators can see whether a subscriber replays or screenshots subscription Snaps. Subscribers should not assume that these messages have the same privacy expectations as ordinary personal conversations.
Who can offer subscriptions?
At present, only select invited creators can activate the feature. Snapchat says eligible creators receive an invitation by email. The company’s current support documentation does not describe a public application form or guaranteed waitlist.
Being a Snap Star, public creator or participant in Snapchat’s general Monetization Program does not automatically establish eligibility for Creator Subscriptions. Snapchat’s broader monetization program lists criteria such as follower numbers, recent view time, adult age status, residence in an eligible country, Snap Star status and policy compliance—but those requirements belong to that separate program.
For creators who have not received an invitation, searching for an “apply now” page is unlikely to help. The practical step is to keep the account in good standing and monitor the email address associated with Snapchat, while recognizing that Snapchat has not promised access to every qualifying creator.
Where is the feature available?
The launch began with select U.S.-based creators. Snapchat named Canada, the United Kingdom and France as planned early expansion markets. However, its current support page does not provide a complete authoritative country list.

How creators set it up
The verified setup process is invitation-based:
- Snapchat sends the creator an invitation by email.
- The creator follows the setup instructions in that message.
- After activation, subscription settings and content controls become available inside Snapchat’s creator-management area.
Snapchat says the management area can include tools to:
- view new, total and returning subscriber metrics;
- share a subscription link;
- add subscription stickers to posts;
- publish and manage subscription Stories;
- review mass Snaps sent to subscribers;
- view engagement and replies;
- open chats with subscribers who respond; and
- manage blocked or muted subscriber lists.
Snapchat cautions that available configurations may differ during the rollout, so there is no reliable universal menu path beyond the instructions shown to an invited account.
Pricing is not fully public
Snapchat says creators can choose monthly pricing from Snap-recommended tiers. The official announcement does not publish the dollar amounts of those tiers, so exact figures should not be treated as universal Snapchat prices.

For fans, the useful question is not simply whether the monthly fee is affordable. Before subscribing, check what the creator has promised to deliver, how often exclusive content will appear, whether the benefits are mostly content or interaction, and whether the subscription can be canceled easily.
How creators get paid
Subscription earnings appear in the Creator Rewards Hub under the label “Creator Subscriptions.” Snapchat identifies Hyperwallet as part of the cash-out process for eligible creator earnings.
Creators should not calculate expected income by multiplying the listed subscription price by the number of subscribers. Snapchat’s Creator Subscription Terms, effective June 1, 2026, say payment calculations can be affected by:

- app-store and other platform fees;
- subscriber refunds;
- Snapchat’s fee, which the terms say is determined at Snap’s discretion; and
- the proprietary payment formula described in the terms.
The public terms do not disclose a fixed percentage that creators are guaranteed to keep. They also say the formula may change. The minimum payment threshold is $100 USD, and payment is made to the creator’s payment account through Snapchat’s payment provider, subject to legal and account-compliance requirements.

How subscribers cancel
Snapchat documents this cancellation route:
- Open Settings.
- Select Creator Subscriptions.
- Tap the three-dot action menu next to the creator.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
If that option is unavailable, subscribers should also check the subscription settings for the relevant Apple App Store or Google Play account, since billing controls can vary by device and purchase method.
Snapchat’s public documents do not clearly explain every outcome when a creator pauses subscriptions, loses eligibility or stops offering the program. That is a material uncertainty for subscribers, who should review Snapchat’s billing and cancellation information before paying.
Why creators may want it—and why they may hesitate
Potential advantages
- Recurring income: Monthly payments can complement advertising rewards and one-time brand deals, although Snapchat does not guarantee a particular income level.
- Direct fan contact: Direct Snaps and subscriber-only Stories provide a channel less dependent on public-feed distribution.
- Audience segmentation: Priority replies and badges can help creators identify their most committed fans.
- Multiple revenue streams: Subscriptions can sit alongside Snapchat’s other creator monetization products.
Costs and risks
- Limited access: A creator cannot assume that general monetization eligibility will produce an invitation.
- Ongoing workload: Paying subscribers will expect consistent, genuinely exclusive value.
- Audience fragmentation: Putting too much content behind a paywall may reduce public reach or frustrate non-paying followers.
- Unclear net payout: The public terms do not provide a simple fixed take rate.
- Refund exposure: Refunds and other deductions reduce the amount ultimately paid.
- Platform dependence: Discovery, billing, account enforcement and subscriber access remain controlled by Snapchat.
- Rollout changes: Some benefits and controls may not be available to every participating account.
How it compares with other membership options
Snapchat Creator Subscriptions are most useful when a creator’s strongest audience already lives on Snapchat and values in-app access. Alternatives serve different strategies:
- Patreon is better suited to creators seeking a dedicated membership destination with broader control over tiers and member content, but fans must leave Snapchat to join.
- YouTube channel memberships fit creators whose main community is built around long-form video or livestreams on YouTube.
- Instagram Subscriptions can make more sense for creators whose strongest reach and messaging activity are on Instagram; Snapchat links to Instagram’s Help Center for its support information.
- TikTok’s subscription products may suit creators whose discovery and livestream activity are concentrated there.
- Brand partnerships and creator marketplaces can provide one-time campaign income without asking fans for a monthly payment, but they do not create recurring member revenue.
These alternatives should not be treated as automatically cheaper or more favorable. Their current eligibility rules, fees and availability need to be checked separately.
What remains unknown
Snapchat has confirmed the product and its limited rollout, but several practical details remain unsettled:
- the complete list of public pricing tiers;
- a fixed public creator revenue share;
- a complete current country-availability list;
- whether Snapchat will introduce a public application process; and
- the precise treatment of active subscribers when a creator loses access or ends subscriptions.
Those gaps matter because Creator Subscriptions are a platform-dependent membership arrangement, not a creator-owned billing system. Creators considering the feature should read the current terms and avoid promising benefits or income that Snapchat has not guaranteed.
