Shazam’s Fast Forward 2026 is a discovery playlist and artist roster built from Shazam listening-identification data and reviewed by its editors. It offers a way to explore emerging musicians across genres and countries—not a guarantee that every featured artist will become a breakout star.
What is Shazam Fast Forward 2026?
Fast Forward is Shazam’s annual look ahead at talent being discovered through its service. For the 2026 edition, Shazam says it assembled a playlist of “over 60 artists” using Shazam data and editorial review. The playlist page displays 65 songs; that track count is not the same as the number of artists.
The announcement was reported on January 13, 2026. Contemporary coverage described the roster as 65 artists across 20 genres, while Shazam’s own playlist description says “over 60 artists.” The distinction matters: Shazam’s displayed 65-song count does not independently establish an artist count. Shazam’s playlist page and 9to5Mac’s January 13 announcement coverage present those figures in different ways.
How Shazam says it selected the artists
Shazam describes the list as based on its song-identification data and reviewed by editors. Its playlist description points to songs discovered in contexts such as TikTok videos, car commercials, or everyday listening. The service does not publish a detailed selection formula, a measurement period, a threshold for inclusion, or a quantified record of forecast accuracy on the playlist page.

That makes Fast Forward best understood as an editorially reviewed discovery guide informed by Shazam activity. “Poised to have a breakthrough year” is Shazam’s characterization, not a measurable promise that every artist will achieve a particular level of success.
Artists and genres featured
Shazam’s playlist description calls attention to CORTIS, Alessi Rose, Clarent, Eli, Kashus Culpepper, Sekou, oskar med k, and Florence Road. It identifies CORTIS with K-pop, Kashus Culpepper with country, and Florence Road as an Irish rock band.

The official Fast Forward discovery page makes the roster easier to browse by genre and shows artist country labels. Its categories include Afro-Beat, Afrobeats, Alternative, Country, Dance, Electronic, French Pop, Hip-Hop/Rap, Indian Pop, Indie Pop, J-Pop, K-Pop, Latin, Música Mexicana, Pop, R&B/Soul, Rock, Singer/Songwriter, and Urbano latino. Use the genre filters and country information to find artists beyond the names highlighted in the playlist description.
What past Fast Forward alumni show—and what they do not
The Shazam page lists earlier selections including Benson Boone (2023), Teddy Swims (2022), aespa (2021), Young Miko (2023), Ice Spice (2023), Stephen Sanchez (2023), Ayra Starr (2022), Nemzzz (2023), and Zach Top (2025). Those names provide context for the initiative’s history, but they do not establish how often Fast Forward picks go on to break through: Shazam and the cited coverage do not provide a program-wide success rate or a defined measure of “breakthrough.”
