“The Tallest Waterfall on the Planet” is a line associated with Woe’s Hollow, not a real-world waterfall claim. It is the title of Severance season 2, episode 4, in which a Lumon team outing into unfamiliar terrain becomes a test of trust—especially for Irving, whose suspicions about the person presenting as Helly are growing.
Which episode is “The Tallest Waterfall on the Planet”?
It is Woe’s Hollow, season 2, episode 4—not season 1, episode 4, which is titled “The You You Are.” Apple TV lists Woe’s Hollow with a 50-minute runtime and a February 7, 2025 release date. Apple TV’s episode listing and Apple TV Press’s episode guide identify it as S2, E4.
What happens in “Woe’s Hollow”?
Spoilers for season 2, episode 4.
Apple’s official synopsis describes a group activity; its press guide says the team traverses unfamiliar terrain, Mark and Helly explore their feelings, and Irving grows distrustful of a friend. The Ringer’s recap supplies further plot context: after the team follows directions from lookalikes to Woe’s Hollow, Milchick leads them to a campsite. There, the group encounters a fourth appendix associated with Kier’s twin brother, Dieter. The text recounts Dieter’s sexual encounter with the forest.
That peculiar tale sits alongside a more immediate conflict. Irving’s suspicion focuses on the person presenting as Helly, and it intensifies as the group’s outing unfolds. TIME’s interview with Adam Scott and Britt Lower frames this tension in the aftermath of the innies’ season 1 jailbreak: Irving begins to suspect that Helena is masquerading as Helly R. The episode ends in a decisive confrontation that shifts the group’s dynamics, according to The Ringer’s recap.

Why does Milchick call it “the tallest on the planet”?
The Ringer attributes the phrase “the tallest on the planet” to Milchick describing Woe’s Hollow. It is a claim about the episode’s fictional setting—not a verified comparison with real waterfalls. The superlative works as part of the outing’s strange, managed atmosphere, while the more consequential tension comes from the team’s uncertainty about whom to trust.
