The five original Reagan-family performers—Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes and Len Cariou—anchored Blue Bloods from its 2010 premiere through its 2024 finale. Across 14 seasons and 293 episodes, later additions Marisa Ramirez and Vanessa Ray also became central to the ensemble. Here’s how the cast’s roles and documented next steps compare, without reading more into dated photographs than they show.
How the cast changed across 14 seasons
Blue Bloods ran from 2010 to 2024, completing 14 seasons and 293 episodes, according to Paramount Global Content. Its core remained the Reagan family, with five principal performers present from the start. Other familiar faces joined as the series developed, while several early cast members departed.
The show’s final episode, “End of Tour,” aired December 13, 2024, according to CBS’s episode list. A comparison of early-season and later images is best understood as a record of the show’s passage through time: the available photos document the actors in different seasons, not the reasons for any visible changes.
The original Reagan family cast
Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan
Selleck played Frank Reagan, the family patriarch and New York City police commissioner, from the series’ beginning. The CBS photo gallery places first-season and Season 14 images side by side, making Frank’s long presence in the series especially clear. Selleck was already widely known for Magnum, P.I. before taking the role.
#1 Best Overall
In a May 2024 CBS News interview with Tracy Smith, Selleck, then 79, reflected on continuing to work: “Hopefully, work. As an actor, you never lose – I don’t lose, anyway – that sense that every time I finish a job, it’s my last job.” That was his outlook at the time of the interview, not a statement about his current plans.
Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan
Wahlberg played Danny Reagan, Frank’s older son and a detective, from the premiere. After Blue Bloods ended, he returned to the character in the Boston-set spinoff Boston Blue. CBS describes the series and Wahlberg’s return as Danny, making it the clearest documented continuation of an original cast member’s Blue Bloods role.

Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan
Moynahan played Erin Reagan, Frank’s daughter and an assistant district attorney. The CBS gallery includes early and Season 14 images of her in the role. The Associated Press reported that she appeared as Erin in the Boston Blue pilot; that report establishes a pilot appearance, not an ongoing or full-series role. The AP report details the appearance.
Will Estes as Jamie Reagan
Estes played Jamie, the youngest Reagan son, from the original run’s opening. The CBS photo gallery’s early-season and Season 14 images offer a visual comparison across his years on the show. No post-series credit is needed to tell that story: Jamie’s place in the original ensemble is the relevant through line.

Len Cariou as Henry Reagan
Cariou played Henry, Frank’s father and a retired police commissioner. Like the other original principal performers, he appears in the gallery’s early and Season 14 comparisons. The series’ end alone does not establish whether he retired from acting or what work he may pursue next.
Later additions to the Reagan orbit
Marisa Ramirez as Maria Baez
Ramirez joined late in Season 3 as Maria Baez, Danny’s partner. Her arrival expanded the show’s investigative stories beyond the Reagan household while keeping her closely connected to Danny’s cases. The TV Insider cast comparison dates Baez’s arrival to late Season 3 and includes a Season 14 image.

Vanessa Ray as Eddie Janko
Ray joined in Season 4 as Eddie Janko, a police officer who becomes part of Jamie’s personal and professional life. Her later entry makes her a key example of how the ensemble grew beyond the premiere cast. TV Insider dates Eddie’s arrival to Season 4 and includes her among the Season 14 comparisons.
Sami Gayle as Nicky Reagan-Boyle
Gayle played Nicky, Erin’s daughter and Frank’s granddaughter. She appeared a few episodes after the series premiere, rather than in the very first episode. TV Insider’s gallery includes images through Season 13 for Gayle; it does not supply a Season 14 comparison for her.

Early cast members who left
Amy Carlson, who played Linda Reagan, and Jennifer Esposito, who played Jackie Curatola, were important early cast members who later left the series, according to TV Insider. The cited account does not establish their reasons for leaving, so the timeline is clearer than any speculation about why.
What “then and now” can—and can’t—show
Early-season and Season 14 photographs let viewers compare performers at two points in the series. They document how the cast looked in those images, but do not support conclusions about health, cosmetic procedures, private life or the cause of any visible difference. Nor does a photograph in a particular season establish an actor’s complete work history before or after the show.
The useful comparison is also about tenure. Selleck, Wahlberg, Moynahan, Estes and Cariou were the original principal cast; Ramirez and Ray joined later, and Gayle entered a few episodes after the premiere. The series’ 2024 ending closed that shared run, while Wahlberg’s return as Danny in Boston Blue and Moynahan’s reported pilot appearance provide the documented post-series links covered here.
