Samsung TV Plus added seven channels in the United States beginning June 28, 2023, bringing its lineup to more than 250 channels at that time. The additions covered local-station news, national and international news, billiards, movies and series, and music videos. The 250-plus figure is historical: Samsung later said its U.S. lineup had passed 300 channels in November 2023, and channel availability changes over time and by region.
The seven channels added in June 2023
The additions were reported as available across the U.S. Samsung TV Plus lineup. Station-branded programming does not necessarily mean access to a local affiliate’s complete live broadcast feed.

The seven names and the June 28, 2023 U.S. start date were reported by SamMobile.
What “250+ channels” meant
The figure described the U.S. lineup after the June 2023 additions; it was not a timeless total or a promise that every viewer would see precisely the same channel list. In November 2023, Samsung said Samsung TV Plus had surpassed 300 channels in the U.S. That was a later, dated U.S. count—not a verified exact total for today. Samsung has also used much larger global totals: its 2,500-plus figure referred to channels across 24 countries, not the U.S. lineup.

Counts and lineups can differ by country, device, account region, licensing, and date. Samsung warns that channels may change or disappear without notice. The seven-channel announcement therefore does not establish that all seven remain available now; check the current guide in your region. How Samsung TV Plus works
Samsung TV Plus is a free, ad-supported streaming television service. It combines scheduled, linear channels—the familiar channel-surfing format—with on-demand programming. The service can offer a mix of news, sports, entertainment, music, and other genres, but not every program is necessarily available on demand. “Free” means there is no TV Plus subscription fee; it does not mean ad-free viewing.

Samsung says TV Plus is available on Samsung Smart TVs and projectors from 2016 onward in select areas, as well as selected Galaxy devices, Smart Monitors, Family Hub refrigerators, and on the web. Support varies by product and region. An internet connection is required, and Samsung’s support documentation says a Samsung account is required; no subscription, fee, or credit card is needed. Check Samsung’s support page for device and access details.
How to look for a channel
- On a compatible Samsung device, open Samsung TV Plus from the home screen or app launcher.
- Browse the live channel guide, or search for the channel by name if your device interface offers search.
- Use the current guide rather than an old channel number. Channel positions and lineups can change.
If a channel is missing, first confirm that your device and region are supported and that the device is connected to the internet. Restart TV Plus or reboot the device, check for a software update, and search the current guide by name. The channel may have been moved, renamed, or removed; Samsung does not guarantee that a channel remains available. Consult Samsung’s current support information rather than assuming an old listing still applies.

Why the additions mattered
The expansion added variety more than a single headline-grabbing service: two station-branded news offerings, a broader news channel, a niche cue-sports destination, movie and series programming, and a decade-focused music-video channel. For viewers who like scheduled programming and do not mind advertising, those categories can make a free channel guide more useful. A higher channel count alone, however, does not guarantee that every addition will suit a viewer—or remain in the lineup.
The original update was U.S.-specific. Viewers in Canada, the U.K., Australia, or other markets may see a different lineup, and even U.S. availability can change. Samsung TV Plus is most convenient on supported Samsung hardware, but an existing compatible device is enough; buying a new TV or streaming box is not a prerequisite to use the service.
