The “surprise” for Stranger Things fans was a limited-time Galaxy Store bundle: one themed Galaxy phone theme and five wallpapers, offered at no additional cost from January 12 through February 22, 2026. Samsung and Netflix ended the promotion, so it is not claimable through the official campaign as of August 18, 2026.
Samsung announced the offer for eligible Galaxy smartphone users in 186 countries. Users were directed through the Galaxy Store and had to download or launch the Netflix app; the announcement does not establish that a paid Netflix subscription was required. Samsung’s announcement describes the complete offer and its restrictions.
What Samsung and Netflix offered
The promotion consisted of two separate downloads inspired by Stranger Things Season 5:
- One Galaxy theme: styling for the lock screen, wallpaper and icons.
- Five wallpapers: images connected with the show’s characters, Hawkins and the Upside Down.
The collection was static phone-customization content. It was not a new episode, unreleased video, ringtone package, streaming upgrade or Samsung phone giveaway. Samsung described the theme and wallpapers as exclusive to the promotional collection, but only for a limited period. The Korean announcement provides the additional breakdown of the theme’s lock-screen, wallpaper and icon elements: Samsung Korea.

Who qualified, and what did the phone need?
Samsung targeted Galaxy smartphone users in 186 countries, subject to local Galaxy Store listings, account settings, device models and software versions. “Galaxy user” did not mean every Galaxy device was compatible.
| Part of the offer | Requirement or condition |
|---|---|
| Full theme | Galaxy smartphone running Android 15 or Android 16; Samsung cautioned that some models might not support it. |
| Five wallpapers | Galaxy smartphone running Android 8 or later. |
| App action | Download or launch the Netflix app when prompted. |
| Distribution | Galaxy Store promotional flow. |
| Geographic scope | 186 countries announced by Samsung, with market-specific availability possible. |
| Promotion dates | January 12 through February 22, 2026. |
The different Android thresholds mattered. An older Galaxy phone could meet the wallpaper requirement while failing to support the complete theme. The published requirements do not establish support for tablets or non-Samsung Android phones.

How redemption worked while the campaign was live
Samsung Members instructions described a Galaxy Store-based process. Banner names and placement could differ by country, so this was the general flow rather than a guaranteed current menu path.
- Open the Galaxy Store on the eligible Galaxy phone.
- Find the Stranger Things Season 5 promotional or event page.
- Select the download button for the theme or wallpapers.
- If Netflix was not installed, follow the prompt to download and install it.
- Launch Netflix.
- Return to the promotional flow and complete the theme or wallpaper download.
The campaign instructions are preserved in a Samsung Members post: Samsung Members. Samsung’s wording says to download or launch Netflix; it does not say that opening the app automatically granted access on every device or that a paid plan was mandatory.

- Expired dates: The official redemption period ended February 22, 2026.
- Android version: Android 15 or 16 was needed for the theme; wallpapers allowed Android 8 or later.
- Model compatibility: Samsung warned that certain Galaxy models might not support the theme.
- Regional store differences: Country, account, language and Galaxy Store configuration could change the banner or listing.
- Netflix step incomplete: The promotional flow required the app to be downloaded or launched before returning to the offer.
Can you still claim the Stranger Things theme?
No. As of August 18, 2026, the official offer is over. Samsung said the downloads were available only for a limited time and could be changed or withdrawn without notice, so an archived screenshot or community post is not evidence that the Galaxy Store listing still works.

Third-party APK or wallpaper sites are not an authoritative continuation of the Samsung–Netflix promotion and may create security, licensing or compatibility problems. If a Galaxy Store search now shows ordinary Stranger Things artwork, that is separate from the expired bundle and should not be presented as the original offer.

Samsung positioned the collection as a way to celebrate the show’s final season and let viewers mark the franchise’s conclusion on their phones. The Galaxy Store download and Netflix launch also functioned as an apparent way to bring Galaxy users into both companies’ apps, although Samsung’s announcement does not state a specific user-acquisition objective.
