How voting and eligibility worked
The awards covered performances released during the January 1–December 31, 2023 eligibility period. About Netflix reported that final voting involved more than 119,000 SAG-AFTRA members in good standing; voting opened January 17 and closed February 23, 2024. The motion-picture and television nominating panels each consisted of 2,500 randomly selected SAG-AFTRA members. Netflix Tudum described SAG-AFTRA as representing more than 130,000 performers, a broader membership figure than the final-voting count.

What defined the 2024 ceremony
The ceremony followed a year marked by SAG-AFTRA’s strike and emphasized union solidarity. National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland praised volunteer strike captains who “organized, rallied and kept our focus where it needed to be,” calling the gathering “a living metaphor for the unity and solidarity” that carried members through the previous year. President Fran Drescher said, “Your solidarity ignited workers around the world, triggering what forever will be remembered as the ‘Hot Labor Summer.’”
