Who were the parties, and what was the case about?
Robinson worked for De Niro from 2008 to 2019, according to Associated Press trial coverage, which described her at departure as the company’s vice president of production and finance. The lawsuit included claims against De Niro personally and against Canal Productions, his production company. The verdict separated the company’s liability from De Niro’s personal outcome: Canal was liable on Robinson’s claims, while De Niro was not.
During trial, AP reported De Niro’s testimony included the phrase, “This is all nonsense!” That was testimony reported by the news agency, not a finding by the court.
