What did their earlier statement say?
Jake and Romy had issued a joint statement on December 17, 2025, calling their parents’ deaths “horrific and devastating,” thanking those who had offered support and asking that their privacy be respected. FOX 11 Los Angeles reported that statement; ABC News identified Jake and Romy as two of Rob and Michele Reiner’s three children. Their brother is Nick. FOX 11 Los Angeles ABC News
Later developments are separate from the memorial update
In April 2026, CBS Los Angeles reported that Jake had published a personal account on Substack about learning of his parents’ deaths. That was his separate account, not part of the siblings’ December joint statement. CBS Los Angeles

On August 27, 2026, the Los Angeles Times reported that a grand jury had indicted Nick Reiner on double-murder charges with special allegations. These are charges and allegations, not a finding of guilt, and they do not change what Jake and Romy said about sharing memorial information later. Los Angeles Times
