The film behind the “sci-fi reboot” headline is Prometheus, Ridley Scott’s 2012 science-fiction film—not a new release. It appeared in Netflix’s national Top 10 charts in several countries during February 16–22, 2026, but that historical chart activity does not show where it ranks now or whether it is available in your country.
Which Ridley Scott film is the headline about?
Prometheus is a science-fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and released in the United States on June 8, 2012. 20th Century Studios lists Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof as its writers and gives the runtime as 2 hours 3 minutes. Although some coverage describes it as a prequel or a franchise reimagining, the studio presents it as an epic adventure and says Scott returns to his science-fiction origins—not as a reboot.
The studio’s synopsis says: “A team of scientists and explorers travels to the darkest corners of the universe searching for the origins of human life.” 20th Century Studios’ Prometheus page has the film’s official description and credits.
What does “winning big on streaming” mean?
FlixPatrol’s records show Prometheus appearing in Netflix’s national Top 10 charts in multiple territories during the week of February 16–22, 2026. That supports describing the film as having a brief, geographically broad chart resurgence during that week. It does not establish a global number-one ranking, a total viewing-hours figure, or a current streaming rank.

Can you watch Prometheus on Netflix now?
Availability depends on your country and can change. Netflix has an official Prometheus title page, but it displays a notice that the film is not currently available in the viewer’s country. That notice is not proof of availability—or unavailability—in every region. Check the page while signed in from your location to see whether it is currently in your local catalog.
