Verdict: Walmart’s onn 4K Pro is the best-value Google TV streaming box for many U.S. buyers. The current 2026 model offers 4K streaming, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, 32GB of storage, Ethernet, USB, a backlit remote, and remote-finding features for a listed $59.98—well below Google’s $99.99 Google TV Streamer.
It is not the best Google TV device in every category. Google’s streamer has more RAM, gigabit Ethernet, Matter and Thread smart-home support, and first-party Google hardware. But for Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, live TV, and ordinary 4K streaming, the onn Pro gives you most of what matters for substantially less money. The important caveat is availability: Walmart’s current listing identifies the 2026 model as compatible with the United States and Puerto Rico, and both listed colors are currently out of stock.
The short version
Buy the onn 4K Pro Streaming Device Google TV when it is available at or near Walmart’s listed $59.98 price if you want a responsive, inexpensive Google TV box with unusually generous storage and useful physical connections.
Choose Google’s $99.99 Google TV Streamer instead if you need any of the following:
- Gigabit Ethernet for fast local-network transfers or high-bitrate local media;
- More memory for heavier multitasking and frequent app switching;
- Matter support or a built-in Thread border router for Google Home smart-home devices;
- Google’s first-party hardware, support, and ecosystem integration.
The onn Pro’s advantage is value, not absolute performance. It is better described as the best budget Google TV box than as the best streaming device at any price.
Which onn Pro are we talking about?
There are two materially different products commonly called the “onn Pro,” and confusing them can lead to outdated price and specification claims.

| Model | Launch or listed price | Important specifications | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 onn 4K Pro Streaming Device | $49.88 at launch | 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, USB, Ethernet, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Google Assistant speaker and microphone | The original low-cost Pro; later units were associated with the backlit remote, although early units did not all include it. |
| 2026 onn 4K Pro Streaming Device | $59.98 on Walmart’s current listing | 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, Wi-Fi 6, Ethernet, USB 2.0, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, backlit remote, Find My Remote, Google TV with Gemini | The current model discussed in this updated buying advice. Changes from 2024 are relatively modest, and availability is presently limited. |
The storage and memory figures are especially important. Both generations offer 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. That gives the Pro a meaningful advantage over the older Chromecast with Google TV, which has 8GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. The Pro is not as well equipped as Google’s newer streamer, however, which has 4GB of RAM.
Why the onn Pro is such a strong value
32GB of storage is unusually generous
Storage is one of the Pro’s clearest advantages. Many inexpensive streaming devices provide only enough space for a modest collection of apps. The onn Pro’s 32GB matches Google’s more expensive Google TV Streamer and is four times the Chromecast with Google TV’s 8GB capacity.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →That extra room is useful if you install many streaming services, use games, download app data, or work with compatible local-media tools. It does not make every app faster, and it does not turn the box into a full media server, but it reduces one of the most frustrating limitations of cheaper streaming hardware: running out of space.
It should feel responsive in ordinary streaming
The 2024 model was independently reviewed as a substantial performance and functionality upgrade over Chromecast with Google TV. Reporting on the 2026 model likewise describes it as fast and reliable during normal use. The hardware has 3GB of RAM, which is a useful step above the Chromecast’s 2GB.
That should translate into a smoother experience when opening apps, browsing Google TV, and moving between common streaming services. It does not make the onn Pro the fastest Google TV device overall. Google’s streamer has 4GB of RAM, and that additional memory may help users who constantly switch between demanding apps or expect heavier multitasking.
Ethernet and USB are real advantages
The onn Pro is a small box rather than a simple HDMI dongle, so it has room for ports that are often missing from budget streamers. It includes wired Ethernet and a USB port. Ethernet can be worthwhile when Wi-Fi is congested, the television is far from the router, or a wired connection is simply more reliable in your room.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe USB port may support compatible storage and peripherals, including some local-media setups. Compatibility depends on the accessory, power requirements, filesystem, app, and the type of media being played, so it should not be treated as a guarantee that every USB drive or accessory will work. It is a useful option, not a reason for every buyer to purchase extra hardware.
There is also an important networking distinction between the onn Pro and Google’s device. Independent reporting describes the 2026 onn Pro’s Ethernet implementation as limited compared with the Google TV Streamer’s gigabit Ethernet. That difference is unlikely to matter for ordinary compressed Netflix or YouTube streams, but it matters more for fast transfers across a home network, high-bitrate local media, or buyers who want maximum networking headroom.
Good format support, with the usual equipment requirements
Walmart lists 4K UHD, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos support for the onn Pro. Those are valuable features at this price, but format support is not the same as universal playback.
To see Dolby Vision, you need compatible Dolby Vision content, a compatible television, and an app or service that delivers the format. Dolby Atmos similarly depends on the content, app, television, soundbar, or receiver in the chain. The box cannot create Dolby Vision or Atmos when the rest of the system does not support them.

- Ultra-speedy streaming: Roku Ultra is 30% faster than any other Roku player, delivering a lightning-fast interface and apps that launch in a snap.
- Cinematic streaming: This TV streaming device brings the movie theater to your living room with spectacular 4K, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision picture alongside immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.
- No more fumbling in the dark: See what you’re pressing with backlit buttons.
- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
Google’s guidance also notes that 4K and HDR playback require compatible content and display hardware. Google recommends approximately 15 Mbps or more of download speed for 4K playback. A faster internet connection cannot compensate for a television or sound system that lacks the relevant format.
The remote is better than you might expect
The remote is another area where the Pro distinguishes itself from basic budget hardware. The 2026 listing advertises a backlit remote, which is helpful when the room is dark. It also includes a remote-finding feature, so you can locate a misplaced remote through the device’s supported controls.
The 2024 design included a customizable “Magic Button” function, while early 2024 units did not all ship with the backlit version. If you are buying an older 2024 box from remaining inventory or a third-party seller, check the exact package and model rather than assuming every unit has identical remote hardware.
Google TV, voice control, and Gemini
The onn Pro runs Google TV, giving it access to the familiar Google TV interface and the major streaming apps available for the platform. The box provides access to services; it does not automatically include paid subscriptions to Netflix, Disney+, YouTube TV, Hulu, or other subscription services unless a specific promotion says otherwise.

The current 2026 listing highlights Google TV with Gemini. Google’s support documentation identifies the Walmart onn 4K Pro as eligible for Gemini for TV in the United States and Canada, in supported languages and for eligible users. Availability can vary by country, language, account, profile, device generation, and rollout status.
Hands-free voice control also requires the microphone to be enabled. Buyers should distinguish current Gemini for TV availability from the older Google Assistant experience rather than assuming every onn model, region, or language has identical voice features.
onn Pro versus Google TV Streamer
| Feature | onn 4K Pro, 2026 | Google TV Streamer |
|---|---|---|
| Listed price | $59.98 | $99.99 |
| RAM | 3GB | 4GB |
| Storage | 32GB | 32GB |
| Ethernet | Included; not gigabit according to independent reporting | Gigabit Ethernet |
| Wireless | Wi-Fi 6 on the 2026 model | 802.11ac Wi-Fi |
| USB | USB 2.0 | Different port and accessory requirements; check Google’s specifications before buying peripherals |
| HDR and audio | 4K UHD, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos | 4K HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos |
| Smart-home features | No documented Matter or Thread hub capability | Matter support and built-in Thread border router |
| Remote | Backlit remote and Find My Remote | Remote-finding feature |
| Hardware position | Low-cost value option sold through Walmart | Google’s first-party replacement for Chromecast with Google TV |
Google says its Google TV Streamer has a CPU that is 22% faster than the 4K Chromecast with Google TV. More importantly for buying decisions, Google’s product has 4GB of RAM, gigabit Ethernet, Matter support, and a built-in Thread border router. It is the more capable and better-connected device.
The onn Pro wins because most ordinary streaming does not require those extras. If the box will primarily play mainstream streaming services on a 4K television, the $40 price difference is significant. If it will also serve as part of a smart-home setup or move large amounts of media around a wired network, the Google device’s additional hardware is easier to justify.

Who should buy the onn Pro?
- Budget-conscious U.S. shoppers: The price is its central advantage, provided you can actually find the current model in stock.
- People replacing a slow smart-TV interface: A dedicated box can provide a more consistent Google TV experience than an aging television operating system.
- Chromecast with Google TV owners: The Pro offers more RAM, substantially more storage, physical ports, and a box-style design.
- App-heavy streamers: 32GB gives you more room for streaming apps, games, downloads, and app data.
- Viewers who need wired networking: Ethernet is available without moving up to Google’s $99.99 product, although it is not gigabit Ethernet.
Who should buy Google’s streamer instead?
- Google Home households: Matter and Thread support can make the Google TV Streamer part of a broader smart-home setup.
- Local-media users: Gigabit Ethernet is the better choice for fast transfers and demanding home-network workflows.
- Heavy multitaskers: The extra 1GB of RAM may help when switching frequently among apps.
- Buyers who prefer first-party Google hardware: Google controls the hardware and software relationship directly, although no specific number of future support years should be assumed without an official commitment.
- Shoppers who cannot find the onn Pro: A readily available Google TV Streamer may be the more sensible purchase than waiting indefinitely for Walmart stock.
Buying checklist and cautions
- Confirm the model year. The 2024 and 2026 products are not identical. Verify the listing, included remote, price, and specifications.
- Check availability immediately before purchase. Walmart’s current 2026 listing shows $59.98 but currently marks both color variants out of stock.
- Check regional compatibility. Walmart identifies the current listing as compatible with the United States and Puerto Rico. This is not a universal worldwide recommendation.
- Check your television and sound system. Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos require compatible displays, receivers, soundbars, apps, and content.
- Plan the network connection. Ethernet can improve stability, but do not buy the onn Pro expecting gigabit wired speeds.
- Do not assume the box includes subscriptions. Streaming services and live-TV plans are separate purchases.
- Do not buy accessories unnecessarily. The 2026 Walmart package includes an HDMI cable, power adapter, remote, batteries, and quick-start guide. A replacement or longer HDMI cable may be useful, but it is not a required upgrade.
Final recommendation
The onn Pro remains an unusually strong Google TV value because it combines a low price with features normally associated with more expensive streamers: 32GB of storage, Ethernet, USB, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and a better-equipped remote. Review reporting on both generations supports the conclusion that it is responsive for normal streaming rather than merely inexpensive.

- 👍 Using just this one device, you can both watch Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, HBO Max and various other streaming services in maximum quality (up to 4K Dolby Vision and Atmos), and play local library of media files in the most advanced formats (up to ISO 4K Dolby Vision FEL and full disc menu) - via the advanced Dune HD media center software
- 🚀 The official Netflix, Google and other certifications ensure excellent support for Netflix and other streaming services (such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, HBO Max and many others) with best possible audio and video quality (up to 4K Dolby Vision and Atmos). The modern Android TV 11 OS version with the official Google Android TV certification ensures excellent compatibility with all Android TV applications and features, and also gives a very powerful "Chromecast built-in"
- 😍 In addition to all standard Android TV features, you can also use Dune HD media center software (You need to install it from the Dune HD com support site by selecting BOXY media player from the list.). This software provides functionality similar to standalone Dune HD media players and includes a lot of features such as: advanced file browser, advanced file player, full menu support for movie ISO files and disc structures, advanced support for playback of Dolby Vision files, ability to view the local library of video files as a nice-looking Netflix-like catalog, Dune Control mobile app
- 🛸 This media player includes a lot of newest technologies: AV1 video codec, VP9 profile 2 video codec, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Dolby MAT
- 📡 BOXY media player offers a wide range of connectivity options. In addition to the usual HDMI, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interfaces, this media player has an Ethernet port, two USB ports (USB 3.0 and USB 2.0), a micro SD card slot, an S/PDIF output port, and an A/V port
That recommendation is specifically for the current 2026 model when available at Walmart’s listed $59.98 price. It is not a claim that the onn Pro beats Google’s $99.99 Google TV Streamer in hardware. Google’s device is better for smart-home integration, gigabit networking, extra memory, and first-party hardware.
Buy the onn 4K Pro if you want the most Google TV hardware for roughly $60 and can find it in stock. Choose the Google TV Streamer if you need Matter, Thread, gigabit Ethernet, heavier multitasking, or Google’s first-party platform.
