What is Season 4 about?
The season adapts Gone Tomorrow, Lee Child’s 13th Jack Reacher novel. In the television version, Reacher encounters a distraught stranger on a Philadelphia subway. The meeting turns deadly and draws him into a much larger conspiracy.
Prime Video’s official synopsis reads: Jack Reacher’s encounter with a distraught stranger on a Philadelphia subway leads him into a deadly mystery.
The location is worth noting. The novel is set in New York, and some early coverage described the television season as a New York story. Prime Video’s current listing, however, specifically identifies the Philadelphia subway as the starting point for Season 4.
The premise puts Reacher in a familiar kind of situation: an apparently isolated incident that reveals a network of powerful people, dangerous ideologies and hidden motives. Beyond that broad setup, Prime Video has not released a full plot breakdown, so detailed claims about the conspiracy or the season’s ending should be treated cautiously.

Confirmed Season 4 cast
Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher. Prime Video’s current listing confirms the following principal cast and character assignments:
| Actor | Character |
|---|---|
| Alan Ritchson | Jack Reacher |
| Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette | Jacob Merrick |
| Sydelle Noel | Tamara Green |
| Agnez Mo | Lila Hoth |
| Anggun | Amisha Hoth |
| Kevin Weisman | Russell Plum |
| Marc Blucas | John Samson |
| Kevin Corrigan | Detective Shaun Docherty |
| Kathleen Robertson | Elsbeth Samson |
Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette replaces Jay Baruchel
One of the most important casting updates concerns Jacob Merrick. Jay Baruchel was originally announced for the role, but he exited because of a personal matter. Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette is now the actor attached to the part.
That means reports naming Baruchel as Jacob Merrick belong to an earlier version of the production. Baruchel is not absent from the wider Reacher franchise, though: he has separately been announced for Season 5 in a different role.
Kevin Weisman and Kevin Corrigan: the roles are often reversed
Some published cast lists have swapped these two actors’ characters. The current assignments are:
- Kevin Weisman plays journalist Russell Plum.
- Kevin Corrigan plays Detective Shaun Docherty.
Those are the roles identified by the current TV Guide cast guide and production-credit information.

Is Maria Sten returning as Frances Neagley?
Maria Sten is not included in Prime Video’s current Season 4 cast listing. Her confirmed role is as the lead of the separate Neagley spin-off, so her appearance in Reacher Season 4 should not be described as confirmed.
That does not rule out a guest appearance, but Prime Video has not established one in the current Season 4 information. Until it publishes a specific credit or episode detail, claims that Neagley definitely returns should be treated as unverified.

How Season 4 connects to the Neagley spin-off
The connection between the two projects becomes especially clear in their release timing. The first season of Neagley contains eight episodes and is scheduled to arrive in full on September 16, 2026—the same day as the Reacher Season 4 finale.
The spin-off follows Frances Neagley as a Chicago private investigator. She investigates the suspicious death of a friend from her past, giving the character a story separate from Reacher’s Philadelphia mystery.
Alan Ritchson is expected to appear in Neagley, but Prime Video has not specified how large that appearance will be or the circumstances surrounding it. The overlap should therefore be understood as a franchise connection, not proof that Neagley is part of the Season 4 ensemble.

Who is making the season?
Nick Santora remains the creator and showrunner. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television and Paramount Television Studios.
Recommended Free Tools
Prime Video’s current production listing names Nick Santora, Lee Child, Alan Ritchson, Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, Sam Hill, and Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen among the producers.
What happened in the earlier seasons?
The series continues to adapt Lee Child’s novels as separate stories rather than following the books’ publication order exactly. Season 3 adapted Persuader. Season 4 moves to Gone Tomorrow, not Persuader.
That distinction matters because some early or recycled articles still describe Season 4 as an adaptation of Persuader. The book confirmed for this season is Gone Tomorrow, with the television action relocated from the novel’s New York setting to Philadelphia.

Best Value
The announced Season 5 cast includes:
- Amanda Ip as Michelle Chang
- Jay Baruchel as Chief Buck Bauer
- Ciara Bravo as Eunice
- Kevin Durand as Nokes
Baruchel’s Season 5 casting is separate from his Season 4 departure. He was replaced as Jacob Merrick in Season 4, but he is scheduled to play Chief Buck Bauer in the next adaptation.
