This is a spoiler-aware review; spoilers begin below.
Finale details and spoiler warning
Spoilers for “Unfinished Business,” the Season 3 finale, follow. Prime Video lists the episode as Season 3, Episode 8, with a runtime of 52 minutes and a release date of March 27, 2025. Its description promises that Reacher “finally faces off with both Paulie and Quinn.” Prime Video’s episode listing gives the basic details.
The season adapts Lee Child’s Persuader, the seventh novel in the Jack Reacher series, according to Amazon’s Season 3 guide. The finale is therefore closing a story built around an undercover effort to rescue a DEA informant from a criminal enterprise, while drawing Reacher back toward his own past.
Does the Reacher–Paulie fight deliver?
Yes, as a piece of physical spectacle. The fight keeps changing its terrain and scale rather than confining the two men to one neat showdown. CinemaBlend reported that the sequence lasts about 14 minutes and moves across multiple locations, including a bridge and the water. That figure is the outlet’s report, not an official episode timecode.

Paulie’s size makes the confrontation feel like a genuine test of force, while Reacher’s determination and fighting skill keep it from becoming a simple mismatch. The extended staging gives the season’s central rivalry room to build, and the physicality is the clearest payoff the finale has been promising. At the same time, an action sequence this large asks viewers to accept a heightened version of endurance and survival. The spectacle works best when taken as pulp escalation, not as a realistic account of what a person could withstand.
Olivier Richters, who plays Paulie, told CinemaBlend that he prepared for the sequence with “four months of stunt training to be the best fighter ever, because Alan is not only a great actor, but he’s a great fighter as well. So I had to keep up.” He also recalled the demanding schedule: “And it was many weeks of night shoots and day shoots of sometimes 10 to 14 hours on set. Alan and me at [the] last night we ended at 5:30 a.m. on the bridge, and we were both devastated, and we hugged each other. We did it, and we thanked each other.” Those are Richters’s recollections of the production, as quoted in CinemaBlend’s interview.

How well do the rescue and revenge threads resolve?
The finale has more to do than stage the duel. Reacher, Neagley, Duffy, Villanueva and Zachary Beck turn the trucks meant to return to Quinn into part of a plan to get to Beck’s son Richard and Teresa, while confronting Quinn. Rotten Tomatoes’ episode synopsis frames the final effort around saving Teresa and Richard and avenging Paulie and Quinn.
That gives the episode a practical spine: the team must carry out a rescue while the season’s personal score-settling comes due. The ensemble’s involvement helps the finale feel like the culmination of a group operation rather than a fight detached from the story around it. But the number of obligations also divides the attention. The Reacher–Paulie confrontation is the event with the greatest physical scale, while the rescue and Quinn’s resolution have to share the remaining space. The result closes the central threads, though not every beat lands with equal force.

Is “Unfinished Business” satisfying or predictable?
It is both, depending on what a viewer wants from the ending. The central conflict reaches its expected destination, and the finale offers the blunt resolution and action that the season has been building toward. That makes the episode satisfying on a basic payoff level, but its destination is not hard to anticipate. Horror Geek Life reviewer Jeff Fountain described the ending as “satisfying, if not predictable,” and found that the action helped carry weaker moments.
Other critics disagreed more sharply about whether the payoff overcame the season’s weaknesses. Rotten Tomatoes displayed four critic reviews when accessed: CBR’s Joshua M. Patton gave the finale 9/10 and praised its conflict, revenge and happy endings; Vulture’s Chris Klimek rated it 2/5 and criticized the season’s plotting; and The Indian Express’s Shubhra Gupta rated it 2.5/5, noting moments when she wished the story would hurry up and wrap. These are distinct responses from a small sample, not a consensus measurement.

My verdict sits between the extremes: the fight is an effective centerpiece, but the finale’s action cannot make every plot turn feel fresh or give each resolution the same emotional room. Viewers primarily seeking a decisive Reacher-versus-Paulie showdown will find the promised event; those looking for surprise or especially intricate plotting may find the route there familiar.
