Their public biographies document their births, christenings, selected tours, school milestones and appearances at major royal occasions. They do not provide a complete picture of the children’s private lives, and claims about their personalities, health, daily routines or future roles should not be treated as established facts without an official source.

Prince George of Wales
Prince George was born at 4:24 p.m. on July 22, 2013, at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. His full name is George Alexander Louis. As William and Catherine’s first child, he is currently second in line to the British throne, after his father.
George was christened on October 23, 2013, at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace. His early public appearances included the family’s three-week tour of New Zealand and Australia in April 2014, when he was still an infant. He later accompanied his parents on tours to Canada, Poland and Germany. His official biography records the arrival of his younger sister in 2015 and his younger brother in 2018. George’s official Royal Family biography provides the dated account.
George at the coronation
George had a notable ceremonial role at the coronation of his grandfather, King Charles III, at Westminster Abbey. He served as one of the Pages of Honor, a role reported by ABC News in its account of the Wales children, drawing on public royal records.
The role marked an increase in George’s public visibility, but it does not establish what private expectations have been placed on him or what decisions he will make as an adult. A child’s place in the succession is an official constitutional fact; it is not evidence of a particular personality, career choice or future working-royal status.
Princess Charlotte of Wales
Princess Charlotte was born at 8:34 a.m. on May 2, 2015, at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. Her full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. She is William and Catherine’s second child and is currently third in line to the throne.
Rank #2
Charlotte was christened on July 5, 2015, at the Church of St Mary Magdalene at Sandringham. She first joined her parents and George on an overseas tour to Canada in September 2016. In July 2017, she travelled with them to Poland and Germany. Her official biography also records that she became a big sister when Louis was born in April 2018. These milestones are documented in Charlotte’s official Royal Family biography.
Charlotte’s documented school milestone
The Royal Family’s biography says Charlotte began school at Thomas’s Battersea in September 2019, joining George. That is a historical milestone, not confirmation of her current school arrangements. The family does not publish a complete account of the children’s present-day education, schedules or daily routines, so current-school claims should be treated cautiously unless supported by a dated official announcement.
Prince Louis of Wales
Prince Louis was born at 11:01 a.m. on April 23, 2018, at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. His full name is Louis Arthur Charles. He is the youngest of the three children and is currently fourth in line to the throne.
Louis was baptized on July 9, 2018, at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace. The official account says William took George and Charlotte to the hospital to meet their new brother on the day he was born. His birth completed the Wales family’s immediate sibling group. Louis’s official biography records these details.
Why their titles changed
George, Charlotte and Louis were born as Prince George of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge and Prince Louis of Cambridge. Their parents were then the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Rank #3
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, William became The Prince of Wales and Catherine became The Princess of Wales. Current Royal Family records—and the 2026 Court Circular—use the forms Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales.
“Kate Middleton” remains a familiar search term, including in the title of this article, but it is not Catherine’s current formal style. In current references, Catherine, Princess of Wales is the accurate formal wording.
The succession order: George, Charlotte, then Louis
Within the immediate family, the order is:
- Prince George of Wales — second in line to the throne
- Princess Charlotte of Wales — third in line
- Prince Louis of Wales — fourth in line
Charlotte remains ahead of Louis because modern succession rules give priority to birth order rather than sex among siblings. In other words, Louis does not move ahead of his older sister simply because he is male. The individual official biographies state George’s, Charlotte’s and Louis’s current succession positions: George, Charlotte and Louis.
Succession position should not be confused with a guaranteed job description. It indicates a person’s place in the line to the throne at a particular time. It does not determine whether any of the children will become working royals, what causes they may support, or what personal careers they may eventually pursue.
For a more adult-oriented reference, Britain’s Royal Families: The Complete Genealogy by Alison Weir is designed for readers exploring royal family trees and succession history rather than looking for a child-focused account.

The three children have appeared selectively at national and family occasions. Their public exposure has included:
- George’s appearance on the 2014 New Zealand and Australia tour as an infant.
- Charlotte’s tours to Canada in 2016 and Poland and Germany in 2017.
- George’s role as a Page of Honor at King Charles III’s coronation.
- Family appearances connected with major royal celebrations and ceremonies.
- The King’s Birthday Parade in June 2026, when the official Court Circular recorded the Princess of Wales attending with all three children, naming them as Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales. The Royal Family’s Court Circular archive is the primary source for that appearance.
These records show when the children took part in public events. They do not amount to a complete portrait of their childhood. Public appearances are selected and managed, and an official biography is not a diary of family life.

The reliable public record covers specific milestones: births, christenings, tours, an early school announcement, family relationships and attendance at selected events. It does not comprehensively document their friendships, ordinary routines, private education, medical information or personal opinions.
William and Catherine have publicly discussed family life, stability and service in statements about parenthood. Those statements can describe the parents’ stated approach, but they cannot prove what the children privately think or how they will behave in the future. ABC News’ family explainer summarizes some of those public comments and milestones.
Catherine’s public work also shapes how the family is discussed. Her official portfolio has emphasized early-childhood development, children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing, including the importance of early experiences and early intervention. That public focus should not be presented as evidence about George, Charlotte or Louis’s private development.
Catherine also created the Hold Still photography project with the National Portrait Gallery during the COVID-19 pandemic. The resulting book featured 100 selected portraits, with proceeds shared between Mind and the National Portrait Gallery. It is relevant context for Catherine’s public work, but it is not a book about her three children.

What should not be assumed
- Current school arrangements: A dated historical school reference does not prove where a child is currently educated.
- Private routines or residence: An official family or royal residence is not a record of where the children spend every day.
- Health information: Do not repeat medical claims without a clear official announcement.
- Personality descriptions: Brief public appearances cannot establish a child’s character or temperament.
- Future royal roles: Succession position and ceremonial appearances do not guarantee a future working-royal role.
- Anonymous-source stories: Entertainment reports and paparazzi speculation should not be used as core biographical facts.
The most dependable approach is to distinguish official biographies and Court Circular entries from secondary reporting, and to attach dates to facts that may change over time.
