Harry traveled to London to attend the 2024 WellChild Awards, a charity event supporting seriously ill children and their families. PEOPLE described Harry as WellChild’s patron for 16 years at the time. His appearance at the awards was the public purpose of the visit.
Why weren’t Charles or William meeting him?
Charles: a separate explanation concerned the May visit
Harry and Charles also did not meet during Harry’s May 2024 London trip for an Invictus Games anniversary service. On that occasion, Harry’s spokesperson cited the King’s commitments and priorities, telling the Associated Press: “The duke of course is understanding of his father’s … commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.” That explanation applied to the May trip; the available reporting does not establish it as the reason for the September plans.

William: no specific reason was reported
The September report does not establish why William would not meet Harry. Speculation about family tensions or security arrangements should not be treated as a confirmed explanation for this particular visit.

No. The report concerns Harry’s visit for the WellChild Awards on September 30, 2024. It is separate from the Royal Family’s announcement of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Autumn Tour scheduled for October 27 to November 4, 2026; that tour does not change what was reported about Harry’s 2024 plans.
