The ranking is a dated snapshot, not a guarantee of what is trending on October 8; check the U.S. Prime Video app for its current list.
Three picks from the October 5 U.S. Top 10
Tom’s Guide writer Dave Meikleham selected these three from the U.S. Prime Video movies chart as it stood on Monday, October 5, 2026. His recommendations are editorial choices, not audience-satisfaction measurements. Pick by the kind of film you want, rather than treating chart position as a quality score.

Which one should you watch?
Choose Now You See Me: Now You Don’t for a fast ensemble caper
The top-ranked title in the October 5 snapshot is the contemporary choice here: a returning ensemble in a heist adventure built for a lively, breezy mood. Meikleham describes it as “a breezy caper.” Choose it if you want a team-driven crime story rather than a grounded investigation or a period setting.
Choose Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood for a stylized Hollywood story
Tarantino’s 2019 film is the most distinctive change of pace among the three. It is centered on Hollywood and mixes period drama with crime and comedy elements; Meikleham particularly praises Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance. It suits viewers drawn to a filmmaker-led take on Hollywood more than a straightforward, fast-moving thriller.

Choose Jack Reacher for focused action and investigation
The 2012 film stars Tom Cruise as Lee Child’s character in a conventional action-thriller framework. Meikleham calls it “a clever and lean actioner.” Of these three options, it is the clearest pick for a direct, plot-driven investigation instead of an ensemble caper or a stylized Hollywood story.

A chart rank signals popularity according to the chart’s own method; it does not establish that a film is the best choice for any particular viewer. The October 5 list is specifically a U.S. all-movie snapshot, and its positions may change over time or differ in other countries. For a decision today, use the chart in your U.S. Prime Video app rather than assuming this dated ranking is still live.

Amazon also publishes a separate weekly chart for Prime Video originals worldwide. For September 28–October 4, 2026, that list ranked The Love Hypothesis first and included titles such as You+Me – Against the World, Drawn Together, The Last Sunrise, The Runner, Livestream From Hell, Project Hail Mary, Masters of the Universe, The Get Out, and A Working Man. Amazon says the weekly list is based on worldwide Prime Video accounts that viewed a title Monday through Sunday. It differs from the app’s country-specific chart, which covers a shorter period. These are different rankings with different scopes, so their positions should not be combined.
JustWatch’s streaming charts are another distinct measure, based on activity such as offer clicks, watchlist additions, and marking titles as seen—not Prime Video’s internal viewing data. JustWatch says its charts draw on more than 50 million monthly movie and TV fans and update daily across 140 countries and 4,500 streaming services. Those figures describe JustWatch’s chart service, not Prime Video viewership.
