That distinction matters: the Prime Video app also displays rentals, purchases and channel titles. Treat the picks below as titles to look up—not as a verified “included with Prime” watchlist—and check the payment label on each title page before you press play.
What “hidden gem on Prime Video” should mean
A useful hidden-gem pick is more than an obscure title. It should have a persuasive reason to watch—such as distinctive filmmaking, strong reception or a memorable premise—and be easy to miss amid better-promoted releases. A famous show buried in the catalog can still be a worthwhile discovery, but it is a catalog find rather than an unknown gem.
For a U.S. subscriber, “on Prime Video” is not the same as “included with Prime.” The service’s interface can show titles that require a rental, purchase or add-on channel. The U.S. catalog on JustWatch and its TV catalog are useful places to browse by provider and filter, but confirm access on the Prime Video title page itself.
Hidden-gem candidates worth checking
Rotten Tomatoes’ hidden-gem guides offer a useful discovery pool, not proof of current availability. Their lists describe titles available with Prime at the time they were compiled; they do not verify today’s U.S. membership status. The guides are linked here so you can check a candidate’s current listing and decide whether it fits your mood.

For an overlooked series
- The Returned: A foreign-language series identified in Rotten Tomatoes’ hidden-series guide. Check the listing for current U.S. access and language options; do not assume an English dub or included subtitles.
- Peep Show: A British comedy highlighted by the guide. It is a catalog-discovery pick for viewers looking beyond heavily promoted U.S. originals.
- Britannia: A genre-series candidate from the same guide for viewers seeking something outside familiar mainstream hits.
- The Outer Limits: An older science-fiction anthology listed as a cult or classic discovery. Check which seasons, if any, are currently offered.
Rotten Tomatoes’ full candidate list, including these titles, is at Hidden Gem Series on Amazon Prime Video. It also names Hanna, The Tick, 3rd Rock from the Sun and The Addams Family. The Wire and Hannibal appear there too, but they are better described as acclaimed shows that may be buried in a particular catalog than as obscure discoveries.
For an overlooked movie
- Selah and the Spades: An Amazon-associated independent-film candidate in Rotten Tomatoes’ guide; check the current listing rather than assuming it is still included.
- The Last Black Man in San Francisco: An independent-drama candidate for viewers looking beyond franchise fare.
- The Hole in the Ground: A horror candidate if you want a genre pick rather than another drama.
- Hot Rod: A cult-comedy candidate for a lighter, more offbeat choice.
- Roman Holiday: A classic-film option; its age and period sensibility are part of the experience.
Rotten Tomatoes’ hidden-movie guide also lists Guava Island, A Vigilante, The Lost City of Z, Les Misérables, Dragonslayer, Sunset Boulevard, The Overnight and The Hole in the Ground. These are candidates from a time-sensitive guide, not confirmed current Prime-included recommendations.

For something newly surfaced
Rotten Tomatoes’ Prime Video browse pages surface newer titles including Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World, Leviticus, Backrooms and Decorado. A browse result alone does not establish that a movie is included with Prime, nor does a score alone establish a strong recommendation—especially for a new release with a limited review sample. Check the individual title page and its review context before choosing one.

How to tell whether a title is actually included
- Search for the title in Prime Video while using the U.S. catalog.
- Open the title’s page and read the access label. Look for inclusion with Prime, or note if it instead offers a rental, purchase or channel subscription.
- For a series, inspect the seasons and episodes you intend to watch. Access can differ across a show’s seasons or episodes.
- Check the listed audio and subtitle options on that title page, especially for international films and series.
- If using a catalog guide, treat it as a discovery aid rather than final confirmation: provider listings can lag behind catalog changes.
The discovery pages cited here do not establish current U.S. runtimes, episode counts, content warnings, language options or title-by-title payment status for the candidates above. Those details should be checked on the individual listing rather than guessed or carried over from an older guide.

Prime Video availability changes over time and varies by country. The Rotten Tomatoes hidden-gem guides identify candidates, while their newer browse pages identify titles associated with Prime Video; neither source, on its own, proves that each candidate is currently included in a U.S. Prime membership. Without individual, current title-page confirmation, calling any of them “included with Prime right now” would overstate what is established.
