Portugal vs Spain is not live today. The UEFA Nations League final was played on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the Munich Football Arena in Munich, Germany. Portugal won 5–3 on penalties after a 2–2 draw following extra time, becoming the first two-time UEFA Nations League champion.

This guide preserves the original legal viewing information for the final, explains what “free” meant in each territory, and summarizes the pre-match team news, projected lineups and decisive moments. Because sports rights change, the 2025 broadcaster list should not be treated as a guarantee of a live stream or replay in 2026.

Was Spain vs Portugal live today?

No. The final took place on June 8, 2025, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Central European Summer Time—3:00 p.m. Eastern Time—in Munich. It is now a completed match, not a live event on August 12, 2026.

The original fixture was the third UEFA Nations League final. Portugal had won the inaugural 2019 competition, while Spain entered as the reigning champion after winning in 2023. The winner would become the first nation to lift the Nations League trophy twice.

Portugal reached the final by beating Germany 2–1 in Munich on June 4. Spain followed with a 5–4 victory over France in Stuttgart on June 5.

How to watch the 2025 final legally

The original viewing options depended on the viewer’s country and the broadcaster’s schedule. UEFA specifically warned that its partner list did not mean every partner carried every match. A service might provide a live broadcast, a stream, highlights or no access to this particular fixture, depending on its local rights and schedule.

United States

UEFA’s June 2025 broadcaster list identified FOX Sports, Fubo TV and ViX as U.S. partners for the Nations League. FOX Sports separately listed the final on the FOX television network, with streaming through the FOX Sports app and FOXSports.com.

  • FOX over the air: Viewers who received their local FOX station with an antenna could watch the television broadcast without paying a separate streaming subscription. This depended on local station coverage and reception.
  • FOX Sports app or FOXSports.com: Streaming access could require authentication through an eligible television provider or other supported access method.
  • Fubo TV or ViX: Availability depended on the service’s U.S. schedule, package and terms at the time. It should not be described as universally free.

The safest historical description is therefore “broadcast on FOX, with digital options through FOX Sports and listed partners,” not “free for everyone.” A free trial, subscription price or replay library should not be assumed without checking the provider directly.

Spain

UEFA listed RTVE Play as a Spanish broadcast and streaming partner, and RTVE announced coverage of the final. This was the relevant original Spanish option, subject to RTVE’s territory and schedule. The availability of a replay in 2026 is a separate question and is not guaranteed by the 2025 broadcast announcement.

Portugal

UEFA listed RTP Portugal and Sport TV Portugal among Portugal’s partners. RTP’s public-service coverage and Sport TV’s subscription coverage were separate offerings, and the exact match availability depended on the broadcaster’s own schedule and terms.

Other countries

There was no single legal stream that automatically worked “from anywhere.” UEFA football rights are territorial. If you are looking for a replay or official highlights now, check UEFA’s own match coverage and the broadcaster that held rights in your country. Do not assume that a 2025 partner still has the same rights in 2026.

Using an unauthorized IPTV service, unofficial stream or geographic circumvention tool can breach copyright rules or the provider’s terms. This guide does not recommend those routes. A VPN should not be presented as a guaranteed or necessarily lawful way to unlock another country’s sports coverage.

Can you watch the final for free?

Sometimes, but “free” needs qualification:

  • A viewer with access to a local FOX broadcast signal in the United States may have watched without buying a separate streaming subscription.
  • A broadcaster such as RTVE or RTP may make some programming available through its public platforms, but that does not guarantee that every match, replay or territory is accessible at no cost.
  • Authenticated apps and pay-TV services may require an existing television package or subscription.
  • A free trial should never be promised unless the provider is offering and the viewer qualifies for one at the time of checking.

Buying a streaming device does not make a match free and does not provide broadcast rights. It only gives you a way to run a compatible, authorized app.

Optional: watch an authorized app on your television

If your television does not support the relevant broadcaster’s app, a device such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Max can connect to a TV through HDMI and provide access to supported streaming applications. Amazon’s Fire TV device specifications describe the hardware and supported marketplaces.

Important: the Fire TV Stick 4K Max does not include FOX, Fubo, ViX, RTVE Play or RTP rights by itself. You still need a legally available app, an eligible account or subscription where required, and access in your territory. App availability also varies by country and device marketplace.

Pre-match team news

UEFA’s preview framed the final as a meeting between Portugal’s experienced core and Spain’s younger attacking group. Cristiano Ronaldo was 40, while Spain’s attack included the teenage winger Lamine Yamal. Portugal coach Roberto Martínez highlighted Spain’s possession, positional control and speed in transition. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente described Portugal as powerful and versatile.

These were projected lineups, not confirmed team sheets:

Portugal projected XI Spain projected XI
Diogo Costa Unai Simón
Nélson Semedo Pedro Porro
Rúben Dias Robin Le Normand
Gonçalo Inácio Dean Huijsen
Nuno Mendes Marc Cucurella
Vitinha Pedri
Bruno Fernandes Fabián Ruiz
João Neves Mikel Merino
Bernardo Silva Lamine Yamal
Cristiano Ronaldo Nico Williams
Pedro Neto Mikel Oyarzabal

Vitinha was expected to return to Portugal’s starting XI after appearing as a substitute against Germany. Spain had more uncertainty around Fabián Ruiz’s starting role, while Pedri could again operate in a deeper midfield position after the semifinal against France. The original UEFA final preview contains the contemporary team-news context.

Goals

  1. Martín Zubimendi scored for Spain.
  2. Nuno Mendes equalized for Portugal.
  3. Mikel Oyarzabal restored Spain’s lead.
  4. Cristiano Ronaldo scored Portugal’s second goal during regulation time.

The shootout stayed perfect until Spain’s fourth taker, Álvaro Morata, missed. Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved Morata’s penalty, and Rúben Neves converted Portugal’s fifth kick to settle the final. UEFA’s post-match account identifies the save and winning penalty as the decisive sequence. FOX Sports also published a match update and highlights report.

What to check if you are looking for a replay

  1. Confirm your country first; rights are territorial.
  2. Check the current football schedule or replay library of the broadcaster that serves your territory.
  3. Look at UEFA’s official match pages for available highlights or competition coverage.
  4. Verify whether the stream is live, on demand, authenticated or subscription-only.
  5. Use only the official broadcaster app or website, and check its current terms before signing up.

A result page or highlights package may remain available after the final even when the full match replay does not. That distinction matters: the original 2025 live rights do not automatically establish continuing replay rights.

Frequently Asked Questions

What was the final score of Spain vs Portugal?

Portugal beat Spain 5–3 on penalties after a 2–2 draw following extra time in the UEFA Nations League final on June 8, 2025.

Was Portugal vs Spain free to watch in the United States?

Some viewers could receive the FOX television broadcast through an existing over-the-air signal, while digital access through FOX Sports or other listed partners could require authentication or a subscription. It was not universally free, and no free trial should be assumed.

Can I still watch a full replay in 2026?

That depends on your country and the current replay rights of local broadcasters. The 2025 partner list is historical and does not guarantee that a full replay remains available.

Did a Fire TV Stick include access to the match?

No. A Fire TV Stick is streaming hardware. It does not include FOX, Fubo, ViX, RTVE Play, RTP or any other sports rights. You still need an authorized app and any account or subscription required in your territory.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: The Portugal–Spain Nations League final was played on June 8, 2025—not today—and Portugal won 5–3 on penalties after a 2–2 draw. The original legal options included FOX Sports, Fubo TV and ViX in the United States, RTVE Play in Spain, and RTP Portugal or Sport TV Portugal in Portugal, but availability was territory- and schedule-dependent. Check current official broadcaster listings for any replay rather than relying on old “free from anywhere” claims.
