Pluto TV launched six free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels in Canada on May 6, 2024, through a partnership with A+E Networks. The channels focused on individual reality, documentary, lifestyle and factual-entertainment franchises, including Modern Marvels, Duck Dynasty, Dance Moms and Ax Men.
This is a historical launch, not a newly announced 2026 expansion. Pluto TV remains a free streaming service, but its Canadian lineup and regional rights can change. Check the Canadian Pluto TV guide before relying on any particular channel, season or episode.
The six channels Pluto TV added
The May 2024 announcement described six themed channels built around established A+E Networks properties. The reported launch programming was:
| Channel | Programming reported at launch |
|---|---|
| Ax Men | Seasons 1–10 |
| Dance Moms | Past episodes from Seasons 1–8 |
| Dog the Bounty Hunter | Seasons 1–9 |
| Duck Dynasty | Seasons 1–11 |
| Modern Marvels | Seasons 2–20 |
| Tiny House Nation | Seasons 1–5 |
Season ranges are the libraries reported for the Canadian launch. They should not be treated as a guarantee that every episode or season remains available in Canada.

What each channel is aimed at
These were not six separate streaming subscriptions or broad genre networks. Each channel offered a concentrated programming environment around one recognizable franchise.
- Ax Men: Logging, dangerous work environments and reality competition for viewers interested in high-risk occupations.
- Dance Moms: Dance competition, training and the interpersonal conflict associated with reality television.
- Dog the Bounty Hunter: Older law-enforcement and fugitive-recovery reality programming.
- Duck Dynasty: Family-focused reality-comedy and outdoors-themed entertainment.
- Modern Marvels: Technology, engineering, manufacturing and history-oriented factual programming.
- Tiny House Nation: Home renovation, downsizing, architecture and lifestyle programming.
What FAST means
FAST stands for free ad-supported streaming television. It combines four characteristics:
- Free: No traditional paid streaming subscription is required for ordinary viewing.
- Ad-supported: Commercial advertising funds the service, so free viewing does not mean ad-free viewing.
- Streaming: The channels are delivered over the internet rather than through a conventional cable package.
- Channel-based: Programming runs on a schedule, allowing viewers to tune in rather than selecting every episode manually.
That makes a FAST channel closer to a digital version of linear television than to a Netflix-style on-demand library. You may be able to start watching whatever is currently scheduled, but you may not be able to choose the exact episode or viewing order. Pluto TV also offers on-demand programming, so the two formats coexist on the same service.

Is Pluto TV really free?
Yes. The launch coverage described Pluto TV as available without a subscription or registration, and Pluto TV’s current public website continues to market the service as free, with live channels and on-demand movies and shows.
Recommended Free Tools
There are three separate points to keep in mind:
- No paid subscription: You do not need another monthly streaming payment for standard Pluto TV viewing.
- Optional account features: Registration may be useful for personalization or other account functions, even though the service is marketed as free.
- Advertising: Commercial breaks are part of the viewing model.
See Pluto TV’s official viewing page for the service’s current access options.
How Canadians could watch
At launch, the Canadian service was reported as available through the web, Android, iOS, smart TVs, Xbox consoles and other supported devices. Pluto TV also broadly promotes access across web, mobile and connected-TV platforms.

- Fire TV Ambient Experience lets you display over 2,000 pieces of museum-quality art and photography.
However, device support and channel availability can vary by country, operating system, app version and licensing agreement. The available information does not establish a complete Canada-specific device matrix for 2026, so it would be misleading to promise that every listed channel works on every Canadian device.
The safest approach is to:
- Open the Canadian Pluto TV service or install its Canadian-compatible app.
- Check the live channel guide for the franchise channel.
- Search the on-demand catalog separately, since a title page is not proof that a 24/7 FAST channel is active.
- Confirm that the app or device account is set to Canada.
Pluto TV does not necessarily use the same channel locations or numbers across devices, and no Canadian channel numbers were verified for this launch.

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
- Use the Canadian version of Pluto TV. U.S.-specific pages and listings are not proof of Canadian rights.
- Search both places. Look in the live guide and the on-demand catalog.
- Update the app. An outdated application can display an incomplete or malfunctioning guide.
- Try the web player. This can help distinguish a device-app problem from a regional rights issue.
- Recheck the schedule later. A program may be part of a rotating channel schedule rather than continuously available on demand.
Do not assume that a season range reported in 2024 remains unchanged. Streaming rights can expire, rotate or differ between Canada and the United States. Using a VPN can also produce the wrong regional catalog and may conflict with platform terms, so it is not a substitute for verifying Canadian availability.

The deal gave Pluto TV more recognizable A+E Networks brands while expanding its Canadian selection beyond broad thematic programming. Franchise-based channels can also make a free service easier to browse: someone looking specifically for engineering documentaries, home renovation or reality competition can tune into a focused stream instead of searching a large general catalog.
The move built on Pluto TV’s Canadian arrival in December 2022 through a partnership with Corus Entertainment. Trade coverage at the time described a launch offering of more than 110 thematic and single-series channels and over 20,000 hours of programming. Those figures describe the 2022 launch context, not a confirmed current Canadian channel count.
Best Value
- HD streaming made simple: With America’s number 1 TV streaming platform,* exploring popular apps—plus tons of free movies, shows, and live TV—is as easy as it is fun. *Based on hours streamed—Hypothesis Group
- Compact without compromises: The sleek design of Roku Streaming Stick won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, and it even powers from your TV alone, plugging into the back and staying out of sight. No wall outlet, no extra cords, no clutter.
- No more juggling remotes: Power up your TV, adjust the volume, and control your Roku device with one remote. Use your voice to quickly search, play entertainment, and more.
- Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
For advertisers, narrowly themed channels create distinct viewing environments around established brands. For viewers, the trade-off is less control than a conventional on-demand subscription: the content is free, but it is scheduled and interrupted by advertising.
What is confirmed—and what is not
The reported facts are clear: Pluto TV added six A+E Networks FAST channels in Canada on May 6, 2024, and the launch announcement listed the six franchises and their associated season ranges.
What cannot be responsibly confirmed from the available current information is whether all six channels remain active in Canada in 2026, whether the same seasons are still in rotation, or whether every episode is available on demand. Pluto TV’s general website confirms the service’s free live-and-on-demand model, but it does not independently verify the complete current Canadian lineup.
Current-status note: These six channels were reported as launching in Canada on May 6, 2024. Pluto TV’s lineup and regional rights can change, so check the Canadian Pluto TV guide before expecting a particular show or season.
Bottom line
Pluto TV’s Canadian expansion was a useful addition for viewers who enjoy scheduled, ad-supported access to familiar reality and factual-entertainment franchises. Modern Marvels and Tiny House Nation offered the strongest fit for documentary and lifestyle viewers, while the other channels targeted reality-TV and franchise fans.
The key qualification is date and availability: this was a May 2024 launch, not a new August 2026 announcement. Try Pluto TV for free, but verify the current Canadian guide rather than assuming that the full launch lineup or season ranges are still available.
