Benioff also said the film’s approach was to concentrate on the human aspect of the story, with the decision to omit the Greek gods part of the project from its beginning. That choice frames the Priam–Achilles encounter as a meeting between people shaped by war and loss, rather than as an episode driven by divine intervention. These are Benioff’s comments, not quotations from O’Toole.
Troy is an adaptation, not a historical record
