The headline previews Wonder Woman (2017), Patty Jenkins’s film starring Gal Gadot, which Warner Bros. scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on June 2, 2017. The date and “all set for a swashbuckling opening” wording come from a Scroll.in preview published May 30, 2017—not a current release announcement.
What the June 2 headline referred to
Scroll.in published its preview on May 30, 2017, ahead of the film’s scheduled June 2 release. Its subheading described the movie as the comic-book character’s solo debut; that was the article’s characterization at the time. The film is now a released 2017 feature, not an upcoming opening. Read the original Scroll.in preview.
Warner Bros. identifies Gal Gadot as Diana/Wonder Woman and Patty Jenkins as director in its official release material. The screenplay is by Allan Heinberg, with a story by Zack Snyder and Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment. Warner Bros.’ film listing
What happens in the film
Diana, an Amazon princess raised on the island of Themyscira, trains to become a warrior. When American pilot Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, arrives and tells the Amazons about the war beyond their island, Diana leaves with him.
