What categories were added in 2024?
The awards expanded to 18 categories in 2024. Six were described as new: Female Song, Male Song, Group/Duo Song, Cover Song, New Artist Song and Storyteller Song. MusicRow’s announcement and the nominee announcement at Nashville.com document the format.
How did voting work?
The awards were fan-voted. NBC’s Help Center described voters as needing to be at least 18 and located in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia or Puerto Rico; it also described voting for one nominee per category up to once per day during the official window. Its page contains inconsistent year references in the date information, so its listed 2023 dates should not be treated as the 2024 schedule. MusicRow’s pre-event report placed 2024 voting from August 14 through August 23 and said votes cast on August 20, “Turbo Tuesday,” counted twice. Voting has ended; these rules are historical, not an active opportunity.
