Where and when to watch Outlander season 8
Outlander season 8 premiered in the United States on STARZ on Friday, March 6, 2026. STARZ lists all 10 episodes, including the finale, so the season is complete rather than upcoming. STARZ’s corporate materials also record March 6, 2026 as the U.S. premiere date.
U.S. viewers who still need to catch up can watch Outlander season 8 on STARZ, but they should check the current subscription offer, price, and eligibility before signing up. Those commercial terms were not verified in the research for this article.
| Market | Release information |
|---|---|
| United States | March 6, 2026, on STARZ; all 10 episodes are listed. |
| United Kingdom | March 7, 2026, on MGM+, according to Radio Times’ reported schedule. |
| Japan | April 3, 2026, on Hulu Japan, with one episode added weekly, according to Sony Pictures’ Japanese announcement. |
| Other territories | Availability varies. Check the local STARZ, MGM+, Hulu, or other authorized distributor listing for the country concerned. |
The March 6 date is therefore the U.S. date, not a worldwide release date. Outlander distribution has differed by territory, and a service carrying the show in one country may not carry it in another.

The final trailer
STARZ released the Outlander: The Final Season Official Trailer on its official YouTube channel on January 29, 2026. The trailer presents season 8 as the series’ final farewell and confirms the March 6 STARZ premiere.
Its official description places Jamie and Claire back at a changed Fraser’s Ridge after the events of season 7. The Revolutionary War follows them home, while family secrets threaten to divide the people they are trying to protect. The trailer also highlights Jamie’s danger, Claire’s fear of losing him, and the pressure building around their settlement.
STARZ had previously released an official teaser on September 19, 2025. That video should be described as a teaser, not as the principal final trailer. Both promotional pieces establish the season’s situation and emotional stakes; they should not be treated as confirmation of every outcome implied by their imagery.
What is season 8 about?
Season 8 begins after Jamie resigns his Continental Army commission and returns to Fraser’s Ridge with Claire. In their absence, the Ridge has grown into a larger, thriving settlement, but the Frasers do not return to peace. The Revolutionary War continues to intrude, and external threats reach the home Jamie and Claire have built.
The central question is not simply whether the Frasers can survive another military and political crisis. They must decide what they are willing to sacrifice to defend the Ridge and remain together. Internal family secrets add a second source of danger, with the potential to damage relationships even when no battlefield is in sight.
The MacKenzies face their own major decisions about where and when to settle. The season’s promotional material also carries forward the unresolved question surrounding Claire and Jamie’s first daughter, Faith, from the emotional aftermath of season 7. These details are part of the setup; the trailer does not by itself establish how each thread ends.

Returning cast and characters
STARZ’s final-season promotion identifies the following principal returning cast. The list is not an episode-by-episode guarantee: individual performers do not necessarily appear in all 10 episodes.
| Actor | Character |
|---|---|
| CaitrĂona Balfe | Claire Fraser |
| Sam Heughan | Jamie Fraser |
| Sophie Skelton | Brianna MacKenzie |
| Richard Rankin | Roger MacKenzie |
| John Bell | Young Ian Murray |
| David Berry | Lord John Grey |
| Charles Vandervaart | William Ransom |
| Izzy Meikle-Small | Rachel Murray |
| Lauren Lyle | Marsali Fraser |
| César Domboy | Fergus Fraser |
For precise episode credits, STARZ’s individual episode pages are the better reference. For example, STARZ credits Matthew B. Roberts as the writer and Emer Conroy as the director of the series finale.

The finale: what can be confirmed without spoilers?
Episode 10, And the World Was All Around Us, is explicitly billed by STARZ as the series finale, not merely the season finale. Its official synopsis keeps the focus on Jamie and Claire protecting their home and relying on the relationship that has carried the series.
The finale has an approximate runtime of 1 hour and 11 minutes. STARZ’s public synopsis does not spell out every outcome, so it would be misleading to use it alone to claim a particular character death, marriage, time-travel resolution, or definitive future for every member of the extended family.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the TV ending the same as the ending of the books?
No. Season 8 is the final television season, but it is not a screen version of a published tenth Outlander novel.
Diana Gabaldon’s official bibliography identifies Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone as the ninth major Outlander novel. Her official Book Ten page identifies A Blessing for a Warrior Going Out as the planned tenth major novel, following Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. As of the latest research date, August 12, 2026, that tenth major novel had not been published.
That distinction matters for readers who finish the show and want to know what comes next. The television series has its own adaptation conclusion while the literary saga remains unfinished. The show may draw on material from later novels, but season 8 should not be described as a scene-by-scene adaptation of Book Ten or as the definitive ending of Gabaldon’s novels.
For readers who want to begin or continue with the source material, the most reliable approach is to follow the Outlander novels in publication order. Gabaldon’s official reading-order guidance recommends starting with Outlander and proceeding through the books in publication order. The latest published major novel is Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone; its ending should not be marketed as a novelization of the television finale.

Season 8 soundtrack and physical releases
Amazon Music lists Outlander: Season 8 (Original Television Soundtrack) by Bear McCreary as a 15-track release dated March 6, 2026. That confirms a digital music listing, but the research did not verify a physical CD or vinyl edition.
Fans should therefore check the format carefully before buying. There is no verified basis here for claiming that season 8 has a DVD, Blu-ray, vinyl, or physical soundtrack release. Authorized merchandise and physical-media availability may change, but no specific current retailer or commercial program was confirmed for this article.
What to know before searching for season 8
- It is not unreleased: the U.S. premiere took place on March 6, 2026, and STARZ lists the complete 10-episode season.
- It is the end of the television series: STARZ labels episode 10 the series finale.
- The release date is territory-specific: the U.S. STARZ date does not automatically apply to the United Kingdom, Japan, or other markets.
- The teaser and final trailer are different: the teaser arrived in September 2025; the official final trailer arrived on January 29, 2026.
- The TV and book conclusions are separate: the show has ended, while Gabaldon’s planned tenth major novel remains distinct from the television finale.
- Do not assume a physical soundtrack: the verified listing is on Amazon Music, not a confirmed CD or vinyl release.
Release, episode, and cast information in this guide is based primarily on STARZ’s official season and episode listings, with territory-specific information from MGM+ reporting and Sony Pictures’ Japanese announcement. The book-status distinction comes from Diana Gabaldon’s official bibliography and Book Ten information.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Outlander season 8 is a completed, 10-episode final season that premiered on STARZ in the U.S. on March 6, 2026. Its international release dates differ, episode 10 is the series finale, and the television conclusion should be kept separate from Diana Gabaldon’s still-unfinished tenth major novel.
