Charithra Chandran plays Miss Wednesday in Netflix’s live-action ONE PIECE Season 2; the character is later revealed as Nefertari Vivi, Princess of Alabasta. The “timeline wrinkle” is separate: Toei Animation’s episodic anime was scheduled to resume in April 2026 under a new two-cour format. Netflix’s Season 2 premiered March 10, 2026, and all eight episodes are available to stream.
Who plays Vivi in live-action One Piece Season 2?
Charithra Chandran plays Miss Wednesday, a Baroque Works assassin whose identity and purpose become clearer as the Straw Hats travel through the Grand Line. She is revealed as Nefertari Vivi, the princess of Alabasta, operating undercover to protect her kingdom from a civil war fueled by Baroque Works.
Chandran describes the contrast between Vivi and her cover identity this way: “Vivi is very sweet, and compassionate, and selfless, and … to infiltrate Baroque Works, she has to shed all of those [qualities] and become a totally new person.” Netflix’s interview says she was advised to familiarize herself with the manga and anime while preparing for the role.
The casting has the approval of creator Eiichiro Oda. In a letter from the Season 2 set, Netflix quotes him: “My own casting selections were made from Japan over photos and videos, but seeing them all in person convinced me: They were absolutely the perfect choice!”

What is the live-action Season 2 release and story?
ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line premiered on Netflix on March 10, 2026. Netflix says all eight episodes are available to stream. The season follows the Straw Hats into the Grand Line, with story locations including Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island.
Vivi’s undercover role connects the crew’s adventures to the conflict in Alabasta, but Netflix’s Season 2 introduction is not the same thing as the anime’s broadcast schedule. The live-action series and the Toei-produced episodic anime are separate productions.

How does the anime’s 2026 schedule differ?
Toei Animation announced on October 28, 2025 that the ongoing episodic anime would move to two cours a year, with up to 26 new episodes annually from 2026. Toei said the first cour of the 2026 broadcast would begin in April, following a production hiatus from January through March. The change applies to the anime—not Netflix’s live-action season.
Toei described the new structure as a strategic choice intended to support the anime’s development. The company said it would allow episodes to incorporate more manga content, tempo, and pacing while preserving storytelling suited to animation. “Up to 26” is an annual maximum in Toei’s announcement, not a promise of exactly 26 episodes every year.

What comes next for Vivi and Alabasta?
Netflix has announced the live-action Season 3 as ONE PIECE: The Battle of Alabasta. Chandran is set to return as Princess Vivi, and Netflix says the new episodes are expected in 2027. That is the live-action continuation of Vivi’s story; it should not be confused with Toei’s separate anime schedule.
