Spoilers: what happens at God Valley?
The island’s destruction
The chapter’s central event is God Valley being destroyed or sinking beneath the ocean, bringing the flashback’s defining incident to its devastating conclusion. The destruction explains why the location disappears from the modern world and gives the historical event its lasting mystery.
Rocks, Garp and Roger
The incident remains tied to the Rocks Pirates, the young Garp and Roger. Volume 114’s official synopsis presents their involvement as part of the full story, rather than treating God Valley as a simple Marines-versus-pirates legend.

Shanks’ discovery
A fan-maintained One Piece Wiki summary identifies the chapter as “New Stories” and reports that the Roger Pirates discover infant Shanks in a treasure chest. That detail should be treated as a secondary spoiler report; readers should confirm the exact scene in the licensed chapter before treating every panel-level detail as publisher-confirmed.
Is Chapter 1166 the end of the God Valley flashback?
Preview coverage described Chapter 1166 as teasing the end of the God Valley flashback. The chapter functions as the flashback’s destruction-and-aftermath point, although the wider One Piece story can still revisit the incident, its survivors and its historical consequences. “End of the flashback” therefore describes the sequence’s narrative position, not a guarantee that every God Valley mystery is permanently closed.
