The guide below follows the placements and orientations printed by Daily Jagran; two of its condition labels conflict with their explanations, and those discrepancies are noted.
How to use these Pips answers
Pips is a domino-based logic puzzle. Place the available dominoes across the board, rotating them as needed, while meeting the rule shown in each colored region. A domino can cross between regions, so check both its fit and every condition its cells affect. Uncolored cells have no special regional condition. Pocket Tactics and Tom’s Guide describe conditions including equality, inequality, greater-than, less-than, exact totals, and unrestricted regions.
In the placements below, each pair gives the domino values in the order shown by the answer source; “horizontal” and “vertical” preserve its listed orientation. Difficulty headings refer to the Easy, Medium, and Hard boards.
Easy answers
- Total 3: 1–5, horizontal.
- Total 30: 1–5, 5–5, and 5–4 horizontal; 5–2 and 5–3 vertical.
- Greater-than region: 4–5 vertical and 5–6 horizontal.
- Less-than region: 0–2 vertical.
A Yahoo-syndicated Mashable search-result extract also reports 1–5 horizontally for the Easy answer, but the page was unavailable for a full independent check of all placements: Yahoo/Mashable.

Medium answers
- Greater-than region: 4–5 vertical.
- Total 30: 4–5 vertical, 5–3 vertical, 5–5 horizontal, 5–6 horizontal, and 5–0 horizontal.
- Equal 3: 5–3 vertical and 3–0 horizontal.
- Equal 0: 3–0 and 0–1 horizontal.
- Total 3: 3–4 vertical.
- Equal 4: 4–4 horizontal and 3–4 vertical.
- Additional placements listed by the source: 5–0 horizontal; 5–6 and 0–1 horizontal.
The answer page labels the additional 5–0 placement “Number (0)” but its accompanying explanation says the pips must add up to 30. Those two parts of the source do not agree, so the label cannot be confidently reconciled here.
Hard answers
- Less than 4: 1–4 horizontal and 1–2 vertical.
- Equal 4: 1–4 horizontal, 4–6 horizontal, and 4–2 vertical.
- Total 9: 4–6 horizontal and 1–3 horizontal.
- Equal 2: 1–2, 4–1, and 2–0 vertical.
- Total 16: 4–0 vertical and 6–6 horizontal.
- Equal 0: 2–0, 0–1, 4–0, and 0–5 vertical.
- Final greater-than region: 0–5 vertical.
The source heads that last region “Greater Than (4)” but explains it as “greater than 3.” The threshold is inconsistent in the source, so the placement is reported without choosing between those two readings.

Solving approach
For a hint before using the full placements, start with the region whose rule is most restrictive and identify which available dominoes could satisfy it. Then account for every region touched by each candidate tile. A locally valid domino may leave too few options for the surrounding cells, so reassess the remaining board after each placement.
