Its October 2025 teaser drew criticism over visual effects that viewers said looked AI-generated. Producer and writer Shane Myler later acknowledged, in comments transcribed by Mega Power Brasil, that some VFX artists used AI to supplement their work.
What sparked the controversy?
Reports say a teaser for the Ninja Kidz Power Rangers project appeared online on October 17, 2025. Viewers criticized effects they believed were generated with AI. The project was described in coverage as a web series continuing the channel’s earlier independent Power Rangers fan productions; the available reporting does not establish that it was a new official television season.
CBR, in an article republished by IMDb on October 22, reported that the teaser and subsequent material had been made private on the Ninja Kidz YouTube channel. The article said many observers attributed the change to negative reactions. That is a report of what people believed, not confirmation from the production team that criticism caused the video to be made private.
What did the project’s producer say about AI?
Mega Power Brasil reported on October 22 that producer and writer Shane Myler responded to the criticism. Its Portuguese-language article transcribed him as saying that several VFX artists worked on the project and that some used AI to supplement their work. He also described the project as a low-budget fan film for YouTube and discussed Hasbro and Playmates’ involvement.
#1 Best Overall
- Authentic: The figure has multiple points of articulation and designed to look just like Billy Cranston from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers show
- Morph Power: Press down on the figure's back lever and watch him morph from Billy into the iconic Blue Ranger
- Accessories: The Auto-Morphin Blue Ranger comes with his signature Power Lance, and the Blade Blaster in both Blade and Blaster form
- Classic: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Re-Ignition is a new and improved release of the classic 1993 brand for today's kids
- Collect Them All: Collect all of your favorite Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from Playmates Toys
The available quotation is a Portuguese transcription in a secondary report, not a verified English-language recording or direct statement. Myler’s comments therefore support the narrower point that he acknowledged some AI use among the VFX artists; they do not establish precisely which effects used AI or how extensively it was used.
What is known about the budget claim?
In the statement transcribed by Mega Power Brasil, Myler compared the project’s budget with the budget of a single Power Rangers episode, describing it as 20% of that amount. This is Myler’s reported comparison, not an independently verified budget figure. No independent project budget or audience-response measurement was established in the available reporting.

Was the project official, and what happened with Hasbro?
Contemporary coverage identifies the project as a Ninja Kidz Power Rangers web-series project, while Myler’s reported remarks characterize it as a fan film. Those descriptions do not establish that it was an officially produced Power Rangers series or that Hasbro funded it. In the same reported statement, Myler said Hasbro had not provided anything and discussed payment from Playmates; those are his claims as transcribed by Mega Power Brasil.
Later ComicBook.com coverage reported a cease-and-desist from Hasbro and recounted Myler’s account of events around the teaser. The available material does not include a primary legal notice or a direct Hasbro statement, so the cease-and-desist details should be understood as that outlet’s reporting, not an independently verified legal finding. The reported rights dispute is separate from the AI criticism; the available sources do not establish that one caused the other.
