Actor Nicky Katt died by suicide on April 8, 2025, at age 54, his sister Elise Ravenscroft said. The Los Angeles Times separately reported that the county medical examiner classified his death as suicide.
What the family said
Ravenscroft told Deadline, in a statement reproduced by TVLine: “He died by suicide after battling with depression — one that he fought bravely but quietly.” She also asked for compassion and privacy on behalf of the family.
What was reported about his death
The Los Angeles Times reported that Katt died at his Burbank apartment on April 8, 2025. The newspaper said his lawyer confirmed the death and that the county medical examiner classified it as suicide. That classification is reported by the Times; the direct medical-examiner record is not cited here.
Remembering Nicky Katt’s work
Katt was known for playing Clint Bruno in Dazed and Confused and Harry Senate in Boston Public. The Los Angeles Times also noted his appearances in Boiler Room and The Way of the Gun. In its obituary, The Guardian described his work in Richard Linklater films including SubUrbia, Waking Life, and School of Rock.
