This is a retrospective of the U.S. August 2025 schedule. “Arrived on Prime Video” means Amazon listed a title for the service; it does not necessarily mean every title was included with the standard Prime subscription. Prime Video can also show rent-or-buy titles and programming from add-on channels. Availability, subscription status, subtitles, and audio options can vary by account and location.
Amazon’s official U.S. August announcement is the source for the dates below. If you need a device for the living-room experience, Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K Max supports Prime Video, although a streaming device does not change a title’s availability or guarantee 4K or Dolby Atmos playback.

Movies and older shows added to the U.S. catalog

The largest catalog drop came on August 1, when Amazon listed several seasons of 30 Rock alongside a wide selection of older movies. The rest of the month added a mixture of recent films, catalog favorites, and complete television seasons:

Live sports and music on Prime Video in August
Amazon’s U.S. announcement also covered live programming. These events should not be treated like permanent on-demand additions: they had event-specific start times and availability windows.
Recommended Free Tools
- KCON LA 2025: live coverage from August 1–3.
- Outside Lands: live music coverage from August 8–10.
- Sports: selected WNBA games, NWSL matches, New York Yankees games, and ONE Fight Night.
- Thursday Night Football: New England Patriots vs. New York Giants on August 21.
Amazon also listed new episodes of Countdown and The Summer I Turned Pretty during the month. For episodic releases and live events, check the Prime Video listing for the current episode or event time rather than relying only on the date of the monthly announcement.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should you watch first?
- For an action-comedy night: start with The Pickup.
- For espionage: choose Butterfly, then follow with The Terminal List: Dark Wolf if military thrillers are your preference.
- For science fiction: Upload season 4 is the month’s concluding event, but watch the earlier seasons first if you are new to the virtual-afterlife premise.
- For sports documentaries: try Taurasi or Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues.
- For romance: The Map That Leads to You is the month’s adaptation-focused choice.
- For a catalog rewatch: the August 1 additions include Pulp Fiction, Raging Bull, Love Actually, the first seven seasons of 30 Rock, and the original Transformers trilogy entries listed above.
Is this list available outside the United States?
Not necessarily. Prime Video’s release calendars and licensing arrangements are regional. Amazon’s Australian August 2025 announcement, for example, contains a materially different selection of titles and dates from the U.S. announcement.
Best Value
- Ultra-speedy streaming: Roku Ultra is 30% faster than any other Roku player, delivering a lightning-fast interface and apps that launch in a snap.
- Cinematic streaming: This TV streaming device brings the movie theater to your living room with spectacular 4K, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision picture alongside immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.

Viewers outside the U.S. should search for the title in their local Prime Video app or consult Amazon’s local announcement. The country associated with your account, licensing agreements, and whether a title is included, rentable, purchasable, or offered through an add-on channel can all affect what you see.
How to check a title’s actual availability
- Open Prime Video in your country or region.
- Search for the exact title, including the season number where relevant.
- Check whether the page says Included with Prime, offers a rental or purchase price, or directs you to an add-on channel.
- Before starting a live event, open its event page to confirm the local start time and any location restrictions.
- Check the title page for available languages, captions, resolution, and audio formats; these are not guaranteed by the monthly release announcement.
