Netflix briefly appeared as a participating service in Apple’s TV app on February 14, 2025, but Netflix said the appearance was an error and rolled it back. Some users saw Netflix titles in Apple’s cross-service watch features; selecting one handed playback off to the Netflix app. It was not a launch of Netflix on Apple TV, a Netflix channel sold by Apple, or a change to Apple TV+.
What users saw—and when it disappeared
On February 14, 2025, reports from some users, primarily in the United States, described Netflix appearing among the services connected to Apple’s TV app. Netflix titles could show up in Apple’s Watchlist and in its viewing queue, variously labeled Continue Watching or Up Next in coverage and interfaces. The feature was not universal, and reports described uneven behavior: some titles or seasons were missing, and queue and progress information did not always appear consistently. The Verge reported the initial appearance; PCWorld documented some of the observed limitations.
The connection and Netflix entries were subsequently removed. Netflix spokesperson MoMo Zhou told The Verge that the period when Netflix appeared as a participating service was “an error” and that it had been rolled back. The Verge’s follow-up reported Netflix’s explanation. That statement establishes that Netflix characterized the appearance as erroneous; it does not explain the technical cause. There is no evidence here to say that someone flipped a particular switch, that it was a deliberate beta test, or that a deal was abandoned.
What “integration” meant
Apple’s TV app can bring discovery and viewing progress from participating video services into a shared interface. Depending on a service’s integration, viewers may find programs through Apple’s TV app or Universal Search and see supported titles or progress in Continue Watching. Choosing a title can still open the service’s own app for playback. In the reported Netflix appearance, the practical promise was a shared place to discover a Netflix title or keep track of it alongside participating services—not Netflix video streamed by Apple. Playback redirected viewers to Netflix. The reports do not establish that every title, season, profile, or viewing status was supported.
This was not Netflix arriving on Apple TV
“Apple TV” can mean Apple’s streaming hardware, the TV app, or Apple TV+, Apple’s subscription service. Netflix was already available as a standalone app on Apple TV hardware; Netflix’s support instructions explain how to install it and sign in. The February 2025 event concerned Netflix appearing inside Apple’s TV app, not Netflix becoming available on the device for the first time.

Nor did the appearance put Netflix in Apple TV+, add it to Apple TV Channels, or establish Apple billing for a Netflix subscription. Apple’s documentation treats app integration, Channels, and purchased or rented content as different arrangements. The temporary listing was evidence of an aggregation and handoff experience, not a combined subscription or a new way to pay.
Why Netflix’s appearance was notable
Apple’s TV app is designed to serve as a cross-service discovery and viewing hub. Apple’s partner program describes integrations with features such as Universal Search and Siri, and Apple said more than 130 premium subscription-video providers had signed on as of 2025. Netflix’s sudden appearance stood out because it had not been listed among the services in the cited participant information and there was no accompanying public launch announcement from either company.

The strategic tension is analysis, not Netflix’s stated reason for the rollback. A shared Apple interface could make Netflix shows easier to find and reduce the steps between deciding what to watch and starting it. At the same time, it would give Apple a larger role in discovery and could shift attention away from Netflix’s own browsing experience and its direct relationship with viewers. The brief appearance does not tell us how either company weighed those trade-offs, or whether commercial discussions were underway.

No. It shows that Netflix content was briefly exposed through Apple’s TV-app integration path for some users. Netflix said the appearance was an error and rolled it back. That is not confirmation of a planned rollout, a partnership launch, or a future timetable.

An incomplete deployment, a testing setting exposed to users, a configuration problem, or a catalog synchronization issue are all conceivable explanations. None is confirmed by the statement or reporting cited here. Calling the event a “beta test” or saying a full integration is imminent goes beyond the available evidence.

- Use the Netflix app for reliable access and playback; the temporary Apple TV app appearance was rolled back.
- If a Netflix title or queue entry lingers in Apple’s TV app, treat it as transitional or stale data rather than proof of an active integration.
- Do not change a subscription or assume Apple is billing for Netflix on the basis of that appearance.
- Remember that availability was limited in the reports. Seeing—or not seeing—the feature does not establish a general rollout for all regions, devices, or accounts.
Status and scope
The documented event took place on February 14, 2025. The available reporting says Netflix called it an error and rolled it back; it does not establish a permanent integration. As of August 18, 2026—the latest status point covered by the research for this article—no verified evidence in that material showed that the temporary appearance had become an officially announced, lasting feature. That date-specific qualification should not be read as a claim about announcements after that point.
BGR’s contemporaneous report, iDownloadBlog’s account, and 9to5Mac’s report describe the limited appearance and its features. The key distinction remains simple: Netflix briefly showed up inside Apple’s TV app for some people, but Netflix said it was an error—not a confirmed new partnership.
