Netflix does have live voting, but only on selected livestreams and designated voting windows. The feature, which Netflix calls real-time voting or part of its Real-Time Interactivity Features, works in the Netflix app on supported TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, Android devices, iPhones, and iPads.
You cannot vote through Netflix in a web browser, and watching a replay does not restore a missed vote. Netflix introduced the feature on January 20, 2026, initially highlighting the live reboot of Star Search, after testing an earlier version during Dinner Time Live with David Chang. Netflix’s announcement and its Help Center guidance provide the current details.
What is Netflix’s live vote feature?
Netflix live voting is an in-app interaction attached to a specific live event. At a designated moment, the program displays choices on screen and lets viewers select an option before a short countdown ends. Depending on the production, the vote may influence contestant progression, determine an event-specific outcome, shape a live discussion, or settle a debate.
It is not a general polling system that appears on every Netflix title. It is also different from Netflix’s thumbs-up and thumbs-down ratings, interactive story choices, social-media polls, post-event surveys, and voting conducted through a separate website or third-party app. The voting prompt must be built into an eligible Netflix livestream.

Which Netflix shows support live voting?
Netflix enables voting title by title and, in some cases, episode by episode. The current Help Center material identifies these confirmed examples:
| Program | Confirmed use | What the vote does |
|---|---|---|
| Star Search | Selected live episodes | Netflix says the feature can affect how contestants or the show progress, according to the format. |
| The Bill Simmons Podcast | Selected live episodes | Voting can shape the live conversation or settle debates. |
| Funny AF | Specific live-vote episodes, including official event rules for May 4 and May 5, 2026 | Follow the rules displayed for that particular event. |
These examples do not mean every episode of each program supports voting. Look for live-event information in Netflix, wait for the on-screen instructions, and read the event-specific rules. Availability can also vary by region because Netflix says its content differs by country and may change over time. See the Help Center article, the Funny AF rules, and Netflix’s title information.
How to vote on Netflix
On a TV, streaming player, or game console
- Open the Netflix app on a supported TV, streaming device, or console.
- Start the eligible event at its scheduled live time.
- Wait for the voting prompt to appear. Do not assume the vote is available from the start of the program.
- Use the remote or controller to select one of the displayed choices.
- Submit the selection before the countdown or voting window closes.
- Do not try to submit another vote during the same window.
Netflix specifically describes TV and streaming-device voting as a remote-controlled experience. If the event displays a warning that your device is unsupported, switch to a compatible phone, tablet, TV, streaming player, or console rather than relying on ordinary Netflix playback compatibility.
On an Android phone or tablet
- Update the device to Android 9 or later.
- Install or update the Netflix app through Google Play.
- Open the eligible event in the Netflix app while it is live.
- When prompted, tap the voting option, choose an answer, and submit it before the window closes.
On an iPhone or iPad
- Update the device to iOS or iPadOS 17 or later.
- Install the latest Netflix app from the App Store.
- Join the eligible event live in the app.
- Tap the prompt, select an option, and confirm before voting ends.
After submission, treat the choice as final. Netflix says votes cannot be changed.

Can you vote in a browser?
No. Netflix does not support voting through a desktop or mobile web browser. A laptop may be suitable for watching the stream, but you need the Netflix app on a supported TV, streaming device, game console, Android device, iPhone, or iPad to vote. Netflix’s feature requirements confirm the browser restriction.
How many votes do you get?
The standard rule is one vote per Netflix profile per voting window. A new window may provide another opportunity if that event’s rules allow it, but one profile cannot repeatedly vote in the same window.
Do not confuse a profile with an account. Netflix’s launch material says each profile receives the applicable vote; that is not permission to create extra profiles or accounts to multiply votes. Netflix’s general audience-voting terms prohibit attempts to exceed the stated limit through multiple accounts, profiles, registrations, logins, bots, or automated methods. Such participation may be voided.
For a household watch party, each person who needs a separate vote should use the intended Netflix profile. Several people watching through one profile should not expect to receive several votes.

Does your vote decide the result?
That depends on the program’s rules. Netflix has described different purposes for the feature:
- For Star Search, voting may influence contestant progression or another stated part of the format.
- For The Bill Simmons Podcast, voting can shape the conversation or settle a debate rather than determine a competition winner.
- For special events such as Funny AF, the official event rules control how votes are counted and used.
Therefore, do not assume that every Netflix prompt changes a contestant’s official standing. Read the instructions attached to the specific livestream.
Device and software requirements
Netflix lists real-time voting as available on supported TVs, TV streaming devices, game consoles, Android phones and tablets, iPhones, and iPads. It does not publish one exhaustive model list proving that every device capable of ordinary Netflix playback supports voting.
| Device | Current requirement or guidance |
|---|---|
| Android phone or tablet | Android 9 or later and the latest Netflix app. |
| iPhone or iPad | iOS/iPadOS 17 or later and the latest Netflix app. |
| TV, streaming device, or console | Use the Netflix app, update the device software and app where possible, and follow any event-specific supported-device warning. |
| Web browser | Viewing may be possible, but voting is not supported. |
Netflix’s broader supported-device list includes platforms such as Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, PlayStation, Xbox, and compatible smart TVs from major manufacturers. That general list confirms Netflix playback support, not automatic real-time-voting support for every model or configuration.

Casting and screen mirroring are also not guaranteed for every setup. Netflix confirms voting through its supported apps and devices, but its documentation does not establish that every cast or mirroring configuration carries the interactive prompt. For the safest result, run Netflix directly on the voting device.
Why is the voting option missing?
If no vote appears, work through this checklist:
- Confirm the title and episode are eligible. Most Netflix programs do not have live voting.
- Check that the stream is live. A replay or on-demand version will not provide the missed voting window.
- Join before the voting moment. You may be able to watch after joining late but still miss a short prompt.
- Leave the browser. Switch to the Netflix app on a compatible TV, streaming device, console, phone, or tablet.
- Update the app and device. Install the latest Netflix app and update the operating system or firmware.
- Restart Netflix. Exit and reopen the app, then return to the live event.
- Check regional availability. The event itself may not be available in your country, or its interactive feature may differ by region.
- Wait for the scheduled moment. The prompt may not appear until the broadcast reaches the relevant segment.
If the TV app fails, keep a current Netflix app on an eligible phone or tablet ready as a backup. Do not rewind to try to recreate a vote: Netflix warns that being behind the live broadcast can cause you to miss it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you vote after the livestream?
Generally, no. Netflix says voting is available only while watching live. If you join after the voting window closes, rewind behind the live feed, or watch the event later as a replay, the missed opportunity is not restored.
This makes timing part of the feature. Open the event before the scheduled broadcast, keep the app active, and watch for the prompt rather than assuming you can vote whenever the episode becomes available on demand.

Does Netflix live voting cost extra?
Netflix describes real-time interactivity as available to members for certain content and does not identify a separate voting add-on or voting surcharge. However, that does not guarantee that every Netflix plan, country, device, or event supports every interactive feature.
Plans, content, and availability vary by country. Check the event listing and your account rather than upgrading solely on the assumption that a more expensive plan unlocks voting. Netflix’s general information about regional content availability and plans and ad-supported availability explains why eligibility can differ.
Technical and fairness limits
Netflix’s general voting terms give the company broad discretion when technical or security problems affect participation. Network failures, delayed or incomplete transmissions, device malfunctions, traffic congestion, and inaccurate or failed capture of participation information can interfere with a vote. If a reliable result cannot be determined, Netflix may alter, suspend, reopen, or otherwise manage the voting process under the event’s terms.
That means a submitted choice should not be treated as an unconditional guarantee that it will affect the outcome. The event rules and Netflix’s official instructions control, particularly if the livestream experiences an outage or suspected manipulation.
