Yes, Netflix is carrying traditional television channels—but the service has already launched, and only in France. Netflix and TF1 Group announced the partnership on June 17, 2025, originally targeting summer 2026. The integrated service went live for Netflix members in France on June 19, 2026, bringing TF1 Group’s scheduled live feeds and TF1+ on-demand programs into the Netflix app. It is not a U.S. rollout of ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox.
What Netflix added
This is a distribution partnership, not a set of Netflix-owned networks. TF1 continues to program its services; Netflix supplies the app, account access and viewing interface.

Linear channels
A linear channel is a scheduled live feed: you join whatever program is airing at that moment, as you would on conventional television. Launch coverage identified five TF1 Group feeds:
- TF1
- TMC
- TFX
- TF1 Séries Films
- LCI, the 24-hour news channel
The five-channel list comes from launch reporting; Netflix’s original announcement referred more generally to TF1 channels. These are streamed channel feeds, not over-the-air broadcast signals or a new Netflix-branded channel bundle.

On-demand programming
The deal also brings selected TF1+ programming into Netflix. Viewers can choose individual programs instead of following a live schedule. Netflix described the offering as including local scripted shows, soaps, unscripted entertainment and live sports alongside the channels.
What can viewers watch?
Examples associated with the launch include the daily soaps Demain nous appartient and Ici tout commence, entertainment franchises such as Koh-Lanta, The Voice, Secret Story and Dancing with the Stars, LCI news, and selected live sports such as major French football matches and Rugby Nations Championship coverage. TheWrap reported these examples in its launch coverage (TheWrap).
Those examples do not mean every TF1 program or every match is available. Sports, films, catch-up windows and individual shows remain subject to territorial rights, contracts and scheduling. A live feed is also not the same thing as unrestricted on-demand access to its entire archive.

Does it cost extra?
Netflix and TF1 said the integrated services would be available to all Netflix members in France as part of their existing Netflix subscription, without a separate TF1 charge under the partnership. That means an eligible Netflix subscription is still required; it is not free television without Netflix.
The announcement does not establish that every program is included, that TF1+’s complete standalone catalog is mirrored, or that advertising disappears. Linear broadcaster programming can carry commercials, sponsorship or other commercial conditions, and the exact experience may vary by program and rights agreement.
How to find TF1 inside Netflix
- Use a Netflix account registered for France.
- Open the current Netflix app or website and look for the TF1 or TF1+ area, collection or live-TV presentation.
- Select a channel to join its current feed, or choose an available program for on-demand playback.
- If the area is missing, confirm the account country and update the Netflix app. Menu names and placement can change, so do not assume that a channel-number guide from terrestrial or pay television applies inside Netflix.
A French resident using a non-French account, or a traveler using an account from another country, should not assume the same catalog. VPNs and account-region changes can be unreliable and may conflict with provider terms.
Is it available in the United States?
No U.S. launch is identified in the official announcement or launch materials. The agreement is specifically for Netflix members in France and concerns a French broadcaster. U.S. subscribers should not expect local ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox feeds because of this deal.

It also does not replace U.S. live-TV services such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV or Fubo, nor does it turn Netflix into an antenna. Analysts cited by TV Technology cautioned against treating the French arrangement as an automatic U.S. template.
Why Netflix and TF1 made the deal
Netflix’s incentive
Netflix has traditionally centered on an on-demand library. Scheduled news, soaps, reality franchises and sports can give subscribers reasons to open the app every day, including when they are not searching for a particular film or series. Netflix’s Q2 2025 shareholder letter described the TF1 arrangement as a way to add local titles, weekly entertainment and live sports (shareholder letter).
TF1’s incentive
TF1 gains another distribution route to Netflix’s French subscriber base and additional discovery for TF1+ programming. Its corporate reporting describes the agreement as a way to extend distribution and reach new audiences (TF1 Group annual-report material). Any advertising, measurement or data arrangements remain subject to the agreement and applicable privacy rules; the financial terms were not disclosed in the reviewed launch coverage.
Is Netflix becoming a cable company?
Not in the conventional sense. Netflix is absorbing selected linear-TV functions through one broadcaster group in one country, not launching a general-purpose multichannel pay-TV package.

The more precise description is streaming distribution absorbing selected elements of linear television. Netflix had already experimented with live programming; the unusual part here is carrying a third party’s conventional scheduled channels inside its service.

- Scheduled viewing: The service is useful if you want to join a live feed rather than pick every title yourself.
- TF1 interest: News, soaps, French-language entertainment and particular sports rights may make the integration worthwhile.
- One-app convenience: Existing Netflix members may value avoiding a separate TF1+ app for the programming available through the partnership.
- Need for a complete package: Five TF1 Group channels are not every French channel, regional service or premium sports outlet.
- Advertising: Verify the actual treatment in the program you watch; inclusion in a Netflix subscription does not by itself prove an ad-free experience.
- Alternative services: Viewers who want only TF1 programming can compare standalone TF1+ at tf1.fr. Free-to-air television may suit households that need local or national terrestrial channels without another streaming subscription, while full live-TV aggregators offer broader channel and sports coverage at greater complexity and cost.
What this deal does not establish
- It does not establish a U.S. rollout or a deal with American broadcast networks.
- It does not promise every TF1 show, film, catch-up episode or sporting event.
- It does not show that Netflix will launch a worldwide cable-style bundle.

The French launch is a significant test of whether scheduled local television can live comfortably inside a global streaming interface. Whether Netflix or other broadcasters expand the model elsewhere remains an open question, not an announced plan.

Are the TF1 channels live or on demand?
Both are included: scheduled linear feeds for TF1 Group channels and individually selected TF1+ programs. Rights and catch-up windows vary by title.
