“Not connected” can point to your device’s internet, the MFC app, its cloud or list, your account, or an unavailable service. Start with checks that do not erase anything: test another app, restart MFC and your device, and clear the cache before considering app data or reinstalling. Don’t download a replacement APK or enter your credentials in a similarly named app until you have verified its publisher.
First, identify where the error appears
Before changing settings, note the exact message and the screen where it appears. An error at app launch suggests a different problem from one that appears only while importing a cloud/list or playing a single title.
- Record your device model, operating-system version, MFC app version, and the date and time of the error.
- Note whether other apps can get online and whether every MFC title fails or only one.
- Check the installed app’s publisher and where it came from. The name “My Family Cinema” alone does not verify that an app is the original or authorized service.
MFC describes itself as a media player, not a host for content; the legality of a list, link, or media source depends on whether you are authorized to access it. See the Google Play listing and MFC’s security notice about unauthorized apps using its branding.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTry these 12 steps, from least to most disruptive
-
Capture the error before changing anything
Write down the exact wording, the screen where it appears, your device and app versions, your country or region, and whether all titles fail. A screenshot can help, but obscure account details, passwords, payment information, and private cloud/list URLs before sharing it.

- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
-
Test another app
Open a website or a known-good, legally obtained streaming app on the same device. If those fail too, start with the device or network. If they work but MFC does not, the likely areas narrow to MFC, its account, cloud/list, or service. If only one title fails, test another title before resetting the whole app. Google’s general Android playback guidance also recommends reopening an app, restarting the device, changing networks, and testing another app or device.
-
Check the device’s internet connection
Confirm that the device is on the intended Wi-Fi network, has not been put in airplane mode, and can reach the internet. Try browsing on another device connected to the same Wi-Fi. If possible, test the TV box over Ethernet: if Ethernet works while Wi-Fi does not, investigate signal strength, interference, or router settings rather than MFC. For a supported Roku device, the connection check is generally Settings → Network → Check connection; labels can vary by device and region. Roku’s network check guidance is for diagnosing Roku connectivity, not evidence that MFC is available as a Roku app.
-
Force-close and reopen MFC
Close the app fully, wait a few seconds, and launch it again. If the device provides a force-stop option, use it. Do not clear app data yet; closing and reopening is a non-destructive first test.

Power-cycle the modem and router
Turn off or unplug the modem and router, wait briefly, then reconnect them and allow the internet connection to return before opening MFC. This is a power cycle, not a factory reset: do not press the router’s factory-reset button unless you intend to erase its network configuration.
-
Update the app and device software
Check the device’s app store for an update to the app you already have, then check for a system or firmware update. Make sure there is enough free storage to install updates and load app resources. Avoid APK download sites that claim to fix the connection: MFC’s security notice warns about unauthorized apps using its name or logo.
-
Clear the cache only
In the device’s app settings, choose Clear cache, then reopen MFC. Cache clearing removes temporary files and is generally less disruptive than clearing app data. The next launch may take longer while temporary files are rebuilt.

Preserve setup details before clearing app data
Clear data only after simpler steps fail and you have recorded your login identifier, legitimate cloud/list URL, activation details, relevant subscription or provider information, and custom settings. Clearing data can sign you out and remove local configuration or history; it is a reset, not a routine connection check. Reinstalling can also require setup again.

Re-import a cloud or list only if that is the failing part
If the app opens but its cloud/list is missing or cannot load, verify that the URL or access details came from a trusted provider authorized to supply it. Do not use a stranger’s “working cloud,” shared credentials, or an unverified link. Older MFC instructions describe opening the cloud icon, choosing My Cloud, selecting the plus symbol, and importing from the internet, but menus can differ by app version and those instructions do not establish that the service is currently operating. The referenced app information page is not current confirmation of service availability.
-
Compare a hotspot and your VPN state
If you can, connect the device briefly to a phone hotspot. If MFC works there but not on home Wi-Fi, check the home router, DNS, ISP filtering, parental controls, or other network settings. If it fails on both, the app, account, cloud/list, device, or service becomes more likely. If you already use a reputable VPN, compare one test with it off and one with it on; a changed result is a routing clue, not proof of a permanent fix. VPNs can also affect latency, DNS, or sign-in. Do not use one to bypass licensing restrictions. TV VPN behavior varies across operating systems and apps; see the provider’s TV overview.
-
Check device conditions, then escalate
Check that the device’s date and time are correct, it has free storage, and any captive-portal sign-in for public or shared Wi-Fi is complete. Private DNS, ad blockers, parental controls, or network filters can block an app connection while ordinary browsing still works. If MFC fails across networks or devices, stop repeating router resets and contact the legitimate provider or service channel, if one is available. Include the diagnostic details below.

Where to find the app controls
Menu names vary with device manufacturer and software version. These are typical routes; if a label differs, look under the device’s Apps or Applications settings.

Android TV or Google TV
Try Settings → Apps → See all apps → My Family Cinema → Force stop. For cache, look under Storage & cache → Clear cache. Avoid Clear data until you have saved your sign-in and cloud/list details.
Fire TV
A typical route is Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → My Family Cinema. Choose Force stop or Clear cache first. Clear data and Uninstall are more disruptive; their exact labels and placement vary by Fire OS version.
Android phone or tablet
A common route is Settings → Apps → My Family Cinema → Force stop → Storage → Clear cache. Test Wi-Fi and cellular data separately if your plan and device allow it.
Roku
Do not assume MFC is a standard or officially supported Roku app. Roku’s app and playback troubleshooting can help diagnose general Roku network or channel problems, but it does not establish MFC compatibility on Roku.

Use the symptoms to choose the next action
| What you observe | Likely area | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| No apps work online | Device, Wi-Fi, router, or ISP | Test another device on the same network, restart the network, then try a hotspot. |
| Other apps work, but MFC does not | MFC app, account, cloud/list, or service | Force-close, update, clear cache, and check whether a cloud/list or sign-in is involved. |
| MFC opens but titles are missing | Cloud/list import or source | Check the provider’s legitimate access details; do not replace them with an unverified link. |
| Only one title or source fails | That title or source | Try another title. A whole-app reset is unlikely to diagnose a single-source failure. |
| MFC works on hotspot but not home Wi-Fi | Home network, DNS, ISP, or filtering | Check router settings, network filters, and signal; test Ethernet if available. |
| MFC fails on every tested network or device | App, account, cloud/list, or service availability | Check the app’s identity and contact the legitimate provider rather than repeating local resets. |
| The app’s publisher or name has changed | Possible rebrand, unrelated app, or clone | Verify the publisher through a trusted official channel before signing in or paying. |
These are diagnostic clues, not proof of a particular cause. For television network problems more generally, TCL’s troubleshooting guidance also covers testing another device, Ethernet or a hotspot, checking date and time, and restarting equipment.
How to check whether the app or service is legitimate and available
A current-looking store listing does not by itself prove it is the original MFC service. The available Google Play listings show different publishers: My Family Cinema 2026 is attributed to DRE ENGENHARIA & CONSTRUTORA and lists an update date of June 25, 2026; My Family Cinema: PREMIUM is attributed to ServiceOrient and lists April 30, 2025; and My Family Cinema Ultra is attributed to Heinsenberg Dev and lists March 10, 2025. These names, publishers, and dates do not establish that any listing is the original or authorized MFC service.
An archived MFC support forum page is historical, not confirmation of active support. Likewise, user posts about a shutdown or successor service are anecdotal, not an official status announcement; for example, see this Reddit discussion. The available information therefore does not establish that the original MFC platform is currently operating normally or that a similarly named app is an authorized replacement. If local checks fail on multiple devices and networks and no verified official channel responds, the fault may be with the platform, account, or source rather than your Wi-Fi.

Avoid risky fixes
- Do not install a random or modified APK. A name or logo is not proof of publisher identity; unauthorized apps may expose you to malware, credential theft, or subscription fraud.
- Do not enter your password or pay a new seller based only on a replacement claim. Verify any rebrand or account transfer with a trusted provider channel.
- Do not use unknown cloud/list URLs or shared reseller credentials. Use only access details from a provider authorized to supply them.
- Do not factory-reset the router or streaming device as an early step. A factory reset erases settings and can create new setup problems; use ordinary restarts first.
- Do not treat a VPN as a service-restoration tool. It cannot restore an expired account, unavailable source, or discontinued service.
If MFC is unavailable, consider an official licensed streaming service, an established free ad-supported service, or a media-library app for files you own or are authorized to access. Check country availability and device compatibility with the provider; a media player does not supply rights to content.
What to send the provider
If a legitimate support channel is available, send a concise report with:
Quick Recap
- Device model and operating-system version.
- App version, publisher, and installation source.
- Exact error text, the screen where it appears, and the date and time.
- Country or region and network type (home Wi-Fi, Ethernet, cellular, or hotspot).
- Whether other apps work, whether all titles fail, and which non-destructive steps you tried.
- A screenshot with passwords, account identifiers, payment details, and private cloud/list URLs obscured.
