Yes—Muppet*Vision 3D is being prepared as a virtual-reality experience, with Apple Vision Pro named as its first intended platform. But “soon” is not a confirmed launch date. Brian Henson confirmed the project in February 2026, according to WDW News Today and Daps Magic. The attraction was captured with VR cameras and is being prepared for Vision Pro, with other VR headsets expected later. No public release date, price, app, or distribution plan has been announced.
What Brian Henson confirmed
Brian Henson, son of Jim Henson, said the Muppet*Vision 3D experience had been captured using VR cameras and was being prepared for Apple Vision Pro and, later, other VR headsets. Reports of his comments also describe a possible virtual theater, including the option to choose a seat and watch the show from that position. Those are reported features, not a final product specification; the release format and feature list have not been officially detailed.
This is more than a report that the original film will simply appear as a conventional video. The project is described as a VR preservation or adaptation of the attraction. Exactly how much of the theater will be recreated, and how the show will be presented, remains unclear.
What the VR experience may preserve—and what it cannot
Muppet*Vision 3D opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 1991. It was a theatrical attraction, not just a 3D movie: the projected show shared its space with physical effects, animatronics, audience interaction and character appearances. A headset could preserve the film and a sense of the theater for people who never visited or want to revisit it. It cannot reproduce water sprays, the feeling of a crowd reacting together, the acoustics of the actual room or the ritual of entering the attraction. That makes this a potential archival second life—not a like-for-like replacement for the park experience.
Why the preservation matters
Disney announced that Muppet*Vision 3D would close amid changes to the former Muppet Courtyard and plans for a Monsters, Inc.-themed area. The decision prompted concern among fans because the attraction was a long-running Muppet landmark and one of Jim Henson’s final projects. See TheWrap’s report on the closure for the park context. The VR project offers a way to retain some access to the show after its removal, while leaving the original physical experience behind.

When will it be available, and where?
There is no confirmed public release date. Some coverage has used the word “soon,” but no exact month or launch day has been established. Treat the project as in development or planned, not as an imminent release announcement.

Disney+ is a possibility readers may wonder about, but its involvement has not been confirmed. Disney+ already supports Apple Vision Pro and selected 3D content, as its support documentation explains. That does not mean Muppet*Vision will be in Disney+, included in a subscription or available through the Apple TV app. It could instead be offered through a separate app or another route; those are possibilities, not announced plans. Regional and language availability can also vary for existing Disney+ 3D titles.

Apple Vision Pro is suited to immersive viewing, including spatial audio and stereoscopic content. Apple has described its own Apple Immersive Video as 180-degree, 3D, 8K video and has promoted 3D entertainment experiences for the headset. But the terms are not interchangeable: Vision Pro is hardware, VR is a broad category, and Apple Immersive Video is a particular Apple-branded format. There is no confirmation that the Muppet*Vision project uses Apple Immersive Video or that Apple is producing it. The available reports point to a Henson/Disney preservation effort intended to run on Apple hardware.

For current or prospective headset buyers, the project alone is not a sound reason to buy Vision Pro: it has no release date, price or access terms yet, and the headset is a single-user experience unlike the original theater. It may appeal to Muppet fans, preservation-minded viewers and people interested in spatial entertainment more broadly. Those expecting the practical effects or shared audience experience should keep their expectations measured.
